Hey guys,
I found this incredible music site that really has their act together. The guy that started it understands a lot more about the music industry then most publishers, has a real ear for talent, and put together one very high-quality site.
I just wanted to help get the word out there to as many people as possible, in order to support good music.

Some of my current favorites:

<a href='http://magnatune.com/artists/music/Middle-Eastern/Solace/Rhythm%20Of%20The%20Dance/Rhythm%20Of%20The%20Dance-http.m3u' target='_blank'>Solace, Rhythm of the Dance</a> (especially <a href='http://magnatune.com/artists/music/Middle-Eastern/Solace/Rhythm%20Of%20The%20Dance/08-Sword%20Dance%20(Routine)-Solace.m3u' target='_blank'>Sword Dance</a>)

Enjoy, and if you have some extra money, send it their way.

As a musican, I think this is a great idea. Music should be ment to entertain, not for profit. Yay for this company!
Thanks for the recommendation. Someone should add this to Crono's thread.
As destroyer said, incredible concept.
Thanks Flayra. :-)
Are we talking 30-40 artists or 300-500?
Can anyone explain how it works to me? (Can't go to music sites from this computer).
Also, I love the banner:

We're a record label. But we're not evil.
We call it "try before you buy." It's the shareware model applied to music. Listen to 326 complete MP3 albums we've picked (not 30 second snippets).
We let the music sell itself, because we think that's the best way to get you excited by it.
Our selection is intentionally small: we never waste your time with mediocre music.
If you like what you hear, download an album for as little as $5 (you pick the price), or buy a real CD, or license our music for commercial use.
Artists keep half of every purchase. And unlike most record labels, our artists keep all the rights to their music.
No major label connections and no venture capital.
We are not evil.
This site and record label is awesome!
Question: Don't they have to pay HUGE bandwidth bills because of all the people listening to the albums first?

Very interesting and thanks for the summary. It is about time that some record label attempted a new business model. I am particularly intrigued by their stance on commercial use. This is perhaps one of their biggest selling points. I know of many smaller companies who have a need for commercially licensed music/samples yet cannot afford to do business with the traditional labels.
I really like the 50% of the profits go to the artists. That is a huge number in the music world. I would imagine they will attract quite a large creative base with such an attractive offer. That might make up for their lack of promotion capabilities.
Very interesting business model indeed.
I still need to send <b>you</b> some of my extra money >_<
and like wizard says, it's an interesting business model, hopefully they will succeed, I for one will pass this link on
and half the profits + keeping the rights? they really aren't evil!
