As much as I hate reviving threads, I hate making new threads on the same subject. Basically SniperChance, our coding guru, wants to take time off to work on his own mod project, so we have an open coder spot. He'll probably be releasing a version with teams and whatnot before leaving (Finally our team maps will have a use), but we'll need someone to take up the slack. With about 8 maps and more in developement, we do need some sort of guy to sit around and listen to what mappers need coded and deal with basic suggestions. If you have some knowledge of the HL1 sdk and want to screw around with a nonsensical mod, leave a reply/PM me/Join the channel and ask/Email us, and you'll get what you need.
WOA!!! I have not worked with the HL1 SDK for more than 15 minutes in the past..
It is true I am considered a coding god among my kind but.... well... if you can tell me some really good resources to discover how the darn thing works (and last time I checked it's not the best organized code) I can try my hand.
edit: just note that I'm starting an independent study that will probably be integrating a physics engine into a testbed used for projects with Loackheed Martin and NASA...

I just took a look at an explanation of a few classes and I think I get the entity system a little better, it's actually very simple. However I have not yet looked at the code and I'm in need of sleep, or at least a temporary vegitative state.
Oh my! I have released a most dapper FGD for the upcoming new version! <img src='http://xs.to/pics/04106/emot-monocle.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
Yes, well. We plan to have a release ready on Halloween. All sorts of stuff in it, I guess. We have around 10 maps, teams, actual animated models, etc.
Today SniperChance told us of his dream. I removed random lawls and other people speaking
<SniperChance> by the way, last night I had some strange Pit-related dream <SniperChance> Ness and I found a publisher <SniperChance> they offered $1,000,000 <SniperChance> under one condition: We had to add another gameplay mode <SniperChance> We'd get an E3 booth and everything <SniperChance> So we were thinking about what to do for this version <SniperChance> and I said "Let's go to the local junior high and find a bright kid to do it!" <SniperChance> So we went to some school. I took a laptop containing the latest Pit code for HL2 <SniperChance> We walked into the gymnasium, and saw a fat kid with glasses get pelted by dodgeballs. "Perfect" <SniperChance> I handed this kid my laptop, and he immediately opened Visual C++ and started typing code at an alarming rate <SniperChance> We walked back to some booth we had at the mall <SniperChance> It was a Pit VR prototype, like those UT ones you see <SniperChance> I compiled the dll's and we loaded up this new version <SniperChance> It was some giant doom-like map, with two cyberdemons after us <SniperChance> The doom 3 cyberdemon, not the sprite one <SniperChance> I remember screaming on voice, "OH **** OH **** THEY'RE SHOOTING ROCKET!" <SniperChance> then I woke up. <SniperChance> this was after I was fixing teamplay on the mod <ZeroByte> heh heh <ZeroByte> okay, that is just a strange dream
Sticking in another gamemode would be pointless anyway. The mapper decides the gamemode right now. While Sniper is going to find time to convert The Pit to HL2 when that becomes possible, our new coder is Malibu Stacey, and I guess he'll be working a bit with Wascally Wabbit.
Make sure there is a burning log with ninjas on it.. the ninjas need to be on fire too.
.. seriously everyone should be on fire in the game.. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> Or the winning team of last round gets to be on fire for the next round as a rward! <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Ok, for those who are wondering, I am working on the HL2 edition.
The SDK is a little quirky, but I should be able to figure things out.
Once I get teamplay, I'll add the Combine Soldiers and Rebels as teams, meaning 4-team pitfalling action! And of course, I'll make a special carpet prop model that mappers can add as an entity. <b><u><i>PHYSICS.</b></u></i>
