    That's odd, why wouldn't you just say 'ok we're starting' and then start? I've never played tournament style CS, so I don't know how it works, but that seems like a lot of effort for no reason.

    it just lets people know when the match will be on, and the 3 restarts before it make the transition between mucking around, and the match

    it's like mr12 or mr10. [max rounds]

    Its a countdown to the beginning round, but also it prepares you to buy your items as fast as possible when the round starts. You'll be able to hit that buy key a ton faster, if even a tenth of a second, when you know when that round is going to start.

    And it gives us another cool online phrase. Who made up "lol"?

    Sometimes when the server restarts the game it's difficult to tell whether the actual tournament has started or if it's still a muckabout. The lo3 confirms the match is "live".
