But no, it's still not a replacement for actual printed cds. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

this may be true, but in some ways, it may be superior
(my brother bought CZ, and when he converted it to steam, he still had to DL it through steam to play it through steam, even though he had the nonsteam version installed)
Steam should go "Oh look its CS:CZ!" and convert it over.
or 11 CDs =(
and I lack a dvd burner =(
How dare you say this is better than Steam checkers.
Ontopic, when i went to back up everything, it was saposed to take 4 CDs, not really helpfull to me... I wish they hade better compression then that...
Yeah, letting us play all of Valve's products and their subsequent mods is most definitely overrated, isn't it DOOM =P

through winzip?
winrar?
<other compression utilities>?
If the game is so important, wouldn't you have the cd in your drive rather than be staring at it? <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Well I just checked the .gcf file which has all the necessary components compressed into it is only 271MB for Couter-Strike, yet this Steam backup is 600MB <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

It also has to have some other gcf's too... Not that large an amount though :/
It may automatically expand the thingy to 600MB, the size of a CD... Who knows (=
Yeah, but its nice to know its there.
Its also nice to have the box to put up on the wall.
nice feature btw <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

it also backed up the HL1 engine and possibly another GCF in there as well
I'd think I should be able as I legally would own two copies, but you never know with Steam <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html//emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
