Could you guys please list all the impulse ###s that pertain to messages such as the "request new orders" or the "follow me"? I am using them to build a new chat bind .CFG
Ye. I knew that they said something about Aliens being able to talk to each other with these sort of sounds, shame no one knows what they mean. It could boost gameplay quite well tbh.
I think what they need to do is make alien voices, where you actually hear them talking (in the hive mind voice) when they play these sounds. So someone could say "incoming" in the alien voice, but the marines would actually hear a random sound.

if someone posts that idea in S & I I would instantly concur as I think that is a very good idea. Back in 2.0 I was obscenly good at communitating via the pop up menu and it added a level of depth to the game in my humble oppinion
Actually, the "incoming" and the like alien previous popup menu sounds DO show up on hivesight.
You know how if you look at someone, and you see their "node"? Know how it shows their name, and generally the place they're in? How it'll show a big green node and "soandso is Gorge" when they're a gorgie?
Well, get a friend to hop on an NS_ server with you and one of you should have the alien impulses bound out (I think marine "in position" corresponds with building or something), have your friend go to a spot on the map so that you can see his name, then make him hit the impulse. You should still see the "is attacking" or whatever after his name on the hud.
It lost it's usefulness after the red circle of ouchiness was put in (Along with the "Lifeform is under attack!") and, mainly, the minimap.
i used to hide, and when a marine came by id make a sound, they useually jump and look all over they place, and if they didnt find me, id stalk them and shortly kill them, it was just tooo fun!

Bah, there was a really good idea (by Dread) concerning alien sayings that was posted in I&S over a year ago, but it seems threads of that age have been pruned. Anyway, the basic idea was to replace the current alien sayings with more general ones (for example "no"), and they could then be interpreted based on context ("do not attack", "do not build", etc.). Since these sayings are conveying more basic ideas, it would be possible to give them sounds that could be interpreted without prior knowledge (perhaps a low growl for "no"); or at least, that are less difficult to learn.

I need the impulse #'s for building all marine structures e.g. phasegate, observatory, prototype lab, armslab.
