faced reality.
I decided today to format my unused linux partition. When I first came to school I figured that I should learn Linux to be worth my salt as a cs major. However, the partition has gone unused, and I have far too much music to even have enough space for Halflife 2 or really anything else. So I made the decision to format it today.

Now here's the problem. I would like to move all of my programs to the new partition to create a software partition and a data partition. However, I don't want to reinstall all of my software, and I don't want things to start breaking when file paths in the windows registry end up being inaccurate. Does anyone have a solution to this?

Hrm... if you only have a C: drive and this, then you're screwed. If you boot windows from one partition and have a second for all these programs/data and a third for linux, then swap the drive letters for the newly formatted linux one with the second partition, and make sure to keep all paths the same. Then it might work. Moving programs around on windows is about as easy as herding 500 hyperactive agitated cats by spraying them with water.

Another alternative is to be on the lookout for a PC someone has thrown away. I have more 2gb hard drives than I know what to do with.

Businesses, schools, etc. throw that kind of stuff away whenever they upgrade. Ask your friends/parents/random strangers to help you look.

You could always move data over instead of programs. That way you don't need to worry about the registry.
