<div class="IPBDescription">Not bullets, but not kidding.</div> Credit to <a href='http://slashdot.org' target='_blank'>/.</a> for the linkage: there's an appropriately-named site selling $<s>20</s> [edit]make that 20 pounds, $33, thread title corrected[/edit] motion-detecting sentry turrets that fire the foam disks you remember from toy guns.

Hopefully, someday when one of us gets one, they'll set up a game of TFC or another game in real life with friends to post pictures.

    Foam disks? How'd that keep intruders away. I'd much rather invest in a .50 sentry turret, or a flame-thrower. It would make a real point to intruders.

    I made an auto-targetting turret once, out of that lego RCX stuff at school. I made it home in on certain colors. Like green for example, since my teacher loved watching football (no not the crappy American type) and had like 10 shirts will green logos on them. Quite funny when he'd walk in the room and get about 50 of those little lego cylinder things launched at him. Took over a month to build as well, but we were supposed to build some nondescript kind of robot, so I did <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I was actually thinking of an array of IR sensors placed behind a mask that passes wavelengths between 8-12 um

    You'd skip the whole modding it to use a gun instead of disks procedure and have the same lethal nature.

    Depends on what metal you are using. It doesn't have to be a heavy metal so long as it is sharp. Hell, people cut themselves on the lids to canned food cans all the time, and that stuff isn't heavy at all.

    That's pretty neat. I'd be interested to see if you could modify it to fire paintballs/bb's or if you could mount in a trap-door type enclosure (which would open on detecting motion).

    Theres some nice stuff on that site actually...note the Rubber Band Gattling Cannon, the Disc Rifle, the RC Battle Tank, the Radio Control Indoor Flying Bomber Blimp...I could go on.

    Think I'll be ordering the Room Defender though, if I can work out just how big it is. For £20 it must be quite small.
