Ns Material Used Without Permision?

i recently was watchin a tv show and i noticed the ambient sounds from an NS map playing in the background. i checked the credits of the show, but ns or anything related was not credited. i was just wondering if there was someone specific i should talk to. im kind of conflicted, i really like the show and do not want anything to happen to it, but i also like ns and think flayra deserves credit

    afaik many of the sounds in ns are from a licensed soundpack
    so other games or shows might as well use it

    yeah this has been discussed many times... especially that starcraft critter thing...

    well ns sounds come from a sound pack which anyone can use as long as it is available to them, i think you usually have to pay for it

    Yes, this has come up many times before. Yes, they're standard sound packages you can buy anywhere. Yes, they're quite good. No, Blizzard can't sue us for it. No, it wasn't an intentional steal. Yes, they're quite funky aren't they. Yes, I think the skulk sounds better with it too. Yes, WC3 changed the unit names because GW sharpened their lawyers at them. Yes, it should be locked now. No, I don't use scripts.

    I dont think you anything will happen for just showing an ns map in the backround on a tv show, as long as it was close up and a big part of the show.

    Ive seen lots of different games on the back of shows and probally none of them have gotten credit for it...

    Btw what show was it?

    it was Aqua Teen Hunger Force, one of the recent new episodes. it was called Hypno-Bots. i just want to make sure that the ambient sounds are in this sound pack, because thats what i was hearing, not the starcraft critter thing.

    Are you talking about sounds such as steam explosions or atmosphere, or the ambient music? Because the music IS copyrighted, however.

    There is a big generic sound "pack" out there... the best one possible would be the "squeaky door"

    Its in almost EVERYTHING the same sound, Resident Evil uses it too, there are many TV shows use it.

    Another is the pig farm noise from Warcraft 2, its in alot of kids shows my son watches.

    So dont worry if u hear something "from" NS in something else, its probably just because its from the same sound "pack"

    it WAS the ambient music. like what you hear if you arent near anything in the map. its not like sounds of specific things, its like the background noise you hear through out the whole map

    /edit: i just checked, its from ns_caged. if you join a game running caged and just sit in the ready room, the music in the background with the creaking metal is what was in the tv show

    You should really PM people like Nem0 about this stuff for the future, as the general forum population can't tell you for certain whether or not it is stolen. However, it probably isn't. I doubt that TV show's producers would be that stupid.
