Anyone Else In My Predicament?
<div class="IPBDescription">Another HL2 thread yeah... :(</div> Okay is <i>anyone</i> else here stuck with a sucky comp that can't play this glorious game. Because seeing these threads about how awesome this game is etc. is killing me. I have been following HL2 news for quite some time now. But it is only NOW that I ask myself... <b>why</b>? It's not like if I read all the news about it, it will suddenly make me able to run it on this crappy computer.
So anyway, I am just wondering who else here has a weak / less-than-average computer and can't play HL2.
And all the people with amazing computers, if you post here, don't bother me with your specs, not because it will annoy me or anything, but because I'd rather save myself the trouble of having to read past your post.

What I have *might* just be able to scrape by...it's close to min specs, but those are the bare minimum (and the videocard sucks the big one....crashes a lot)
No.
Ill try to find it
EDIT <a href='http://www.ctrlaltdel-online.com/?t=archives&date=2003-05-23' target='_blank'>found it</a>

Maybe I could run HL2 on the lowest settings, but I don't even have the HD space for it.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGHHHH!
I'm guessing that makes you cool?
"Liar. I don't eat babies."
Heh...
You must be my long-lost brother! Together we can experience excruciating load times, grimaces upon reading minimum requirements, and altogether poor performace, it'll be great!

Not with a Geforce 2 and 128 megabytes of ram.
Go for it Neo, tell me I can run it again.
Ok, you can't run it - I won't even stoop so low as to try to get your hopes up. The best game of the last 5 years, (not counting NS) and you won't be able to enjoy it until you get more cash.
Don't worry, I'm in a similar boat. My PC could possibly run it, but I don't have the extra for the game, and even if I could splurge, I wouldn't because I'm too stingy.
I'm a "Must have financial cussion" kind of guy - so no HL2 for me for a few months (maybe for christmas).

just giving the processor speed doesnt make for good evaluations.
your processor can run it, and that was the only information you gave, so i made my comment based on the woefully incomplete data you provided

so, depending on whether your Geforce 2 has 32 or 64 MB of RAM, im going to say that yes, you can run HL2
CPU Speed:
OK
System Memory:
OK
Graphics Memory:
NOT GOOD ENOUGH - 64Mb is needed.

I saw it in the cs: s forums on steam forums... although the walls where blank textures you get 100 fps >_>
althougth blank textures is a bit TOO extreme

I am surprized how well my comp runs it. I have .9 ghz Radeon 9600 XT 640 RAM.
The RAM situation is bad, though. It takes about 10 minutes for the game to load the main menu, and 10 more to start a new game.

But dare I try to run it while it looks like crap and at horrible framerates? I mean, that just ruins the entire experience...
I mean, I probably COULD force it to run, just like I forced Max Payne to run on this computer. (Albeit with all my settings really low and still with a pathetic framerate). And yes I mean the first Max Payne, I didn't bother with the second because I used my brother's computer. But the point is, playing it like that, it just destroys the experience and would ruin the game. Surely you would feel the same way.

I was really half joking about that. I just needed someone to yell at in an irrational and unprovoked way. Bahh if only I had the cash to shell out in the first place. Then I would shell it out all the live long day. For the sake of a better computer at least. Now that I am finally able to get a job, I have to save every penny I make for college and my car. I'm not stingy, just poor.
