Actually if you would be so kind as to PM me the details on if/and or when the gravity gun gets upgraded, I am curious about that. I don't know if it really happens so I wouldn't want you to post it and spoil it for other people.

I'm finding HL2 on easy to be moderately hard. Just finished it myself a short while ago. 10 1/2 hours. Surprised I pulled it off that quick, but it was well worth it. Fantastic game. I still kinda have this goofy little kid grin over it all.

Sooo many people are getting stuck at that point. I kept thinking you had to get into that vent, which i later realised was just a man-hack spawn point.
Ok, im gonna be very vague as to not give anything away. The beginning to "Our Benefactors" when your in that thing going around (see?? vague ). I Thought that was the most bloody amazing thing in the world.
I've just beaten it aswell. I'm kinda torn. I loved the city combat between the combine and the resistance. The prison was pretty fun aswell thanks to those ant lions. But the rest of the game imho was boring. Driving was not fun. When I was in the airboat I almost thought I was playing Diddy Kong Racing or something. HIT THE CRATES GET MORE HEALTH. Also the barricades with ramps every other turn got old real fast. The buggy levels were ok but it wasn't spectacular. Also the combat was way to sporadic in the buggy. Another gripe is that the combine are so easy to kill. I went through the majority of the game using the shotgun and magnum only. The gravity gun is a novelty but it's more a goof around thing than a vitally useful thing. It's quicker to just use your hands to pick up crap and drop it. Weapons were kinda bland. I never used the mp7 or whatever it was once I got the shotgun. The Xbow that shoots glowing rebar that somehow stakes people to the wall is kinda cool. I didn't get the tau cannon from some reason so I can't comment on that but I never saw a use for it. The game presents no situations where changing weapons is a good idea.
My break down
Good Graphics - Pretty good except the large outdoor areas. It suffers from the same thing Operation Flashpoint does. Animations are well done as are the models. Nothing to gripe about there.
Gameplay - I'm wondering where this advanced A.I. went. They occasionally used cover. They almost never used grenades. It was like a turkey shoot half the time. Also the gameplay is ok. Nothing special.
Atmosphere - This really depends on the area. The prison and back was ok but once all hell breaks lose the game really shines and you forget about the mediocre gameplay. But the main problem is the game doesn't suck you into the story.
Sound - A+++ here no complaints. Voice acting is even better than Doom 3's which was damned good
Story - I don't know what to say about it. I really can't comment on something that barely exists. There's maybe 10 sentences that even gives you a vague hint on what the hell happened while you were gone. The game has so many plotholes that you're bound to fall into one every other step. I mean atleast Doom 3 had an excuse for a plot holed filled plot since you were like the last guy alive. This is not the case in HL2. Was it better than HL1's? Yes. Was it good? Not Really.
8.5 out of 10. Waaaaaay Overhyped. But good nonetheless.
I use the gravity gun more than anything else. Nothing like lining up 5-6 zombie guys and throwing a saw at them and having a dozen body pieces fly around you =D
Chem, the only (negative) thing I have to agree with you on there is the AI... I mean, I just finished Halo 2 and the Elite AI is a _lot_ better than the Combine's. WTH? Half-Life had the best AI for a long time, and its sequel is mediocre?
Oh yea, and I also think that the airboat sequence sucked - not because it sucked, but because that much water drops my poor old X800 Pro through the floor and steps on it.
