Thats rather easy: Since software mode is not supported by ns all you need to do is execute NS though the play games list and then select options/video there you alter software mode to either direct3d or opengl.
Problem solved, at least unless you own a graphic card that does neither support d3d nor ogl.

Hi, I'm new, but I'm having the same problem, except I figured that it was my renderer as it's called, so I switched to openGL, it just wouldn't load up NS, then I switched to D3d which I think is direct 3D, and it gave me ungodly lag, I'm talking 1000,3500 ping rates, and an onos charged me, took about 20 seconds to register damage I think, plus, I noticed that in NS and zombie panic, the text I type sometimes goes a bit haywire and gives funny voice box symbols and random stuff like that...

I would think openGL would work, but I remember having problems with return to castle wolfenstein with it

Believe my video card is a riva TNT, I don't know what to do, the bits I saw of NS looked awesome, but if only I could play it...

    sorry dude, your outta luck.

NS Only Supports OpenGL and D3D

Maybe if you have a good enough graphics card and a good processor then NS should work fine. I got a Ping of 80 minimum and 120 max and im running a AMD Athlon and a Geforce4

List your stuff here or buy new stuff you sapling.

If your graphics card doesn't work well or support OpenGL or Direct3D, I would recommend that you buy a new card. You can get a Geforce3 (an excellent card for its time), which will play NS very well, for less than $30.
