Software mode problems
Right now everytime I join a server when I enter the ready room it says without showing anything else on the screen except when people talk on mic "Software mode is not able to work with Natural Selection" or something like that. I would appreciate any help on how to fix this problem.

NS is incapable of running in software mode. What this means is that you have to run in OpenGL. Open your steam menu, go to options->video, look for the pull down menu that says "Software" and change it to "OpenGL". Then restart NS. It should work that way.

Btw.. that's awesome math.

Ty but now I'm having another problem. When I clicked run in OpenGL it gave me an error saying "The specified software mode is not supported, now running in software mode"

Is there somewhere that I can download OpenGL or something?

Sorry I really have no knowledge of all these video settings.

Ok I googled and found that I need to visit my graphics card site. Well I don't really know my graphic card......Where do I got to find it?

Right click My Computer, then Properties. Click the Hardware tab and goto Device Manager.

Click the + next to Display Adapters and you should see the name of your graphics card.

If you could name it here, we could help.

Matrox Graphics Millenium G200 AGP

So all I have to do now is go to their site and download the driver? Anything I have to do after its downloaded?

Also I'm not sure if it would make a difference but I run Windows XP.

I found the site and everything now, allthats left is finding the right one.

Matrox Graphics
At the bottom is the openGL downloads. It says its for 98 only though, I have XP and the g200 can i still download those?

I haven't heard of that card before. I'm starting to believe it's a very, very low grade graphics card.

If you have money, try upgrading to a new graphics card. Something over £70 from NVIDIA or ATI will work wonders.

May i ask what your computer specs are?

Try setting your video mode to Direct3D. If that doesn't work, ensure you have the latest directx by going to start -> run and typing in dxdiag and hitting enter. The version is displayed on the first page. If you don't have 9.0c, go get it on http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com. Even if this works who knows if it will be playable .

Yeah, do the same thing as Alkiller suggested, but set it to Direct3D mode.

Also, go here:
http://www.matrox.com/mga/support/drivers/latest/home.cfm
and download the latest drivers for that card.
If they don't have WindowsXP drivers, get the Windows2000 ones, they should work too.

If that still doesn't work, then Cartman2b^ is right. You probably should buy a new graphics card. You don't have to spend £70 (>$100) though. You should get a Geforce3. It runs the game excellently and a quick check on ebay sees that its going for $10-15 at the lowest. I don't think they sell them in stores anymore, but you can probably get one from an reputable online merchant for <$30.
