<div class="IPBDescription">My system keeps crashing</div> All I know is I'm playing one moment and then it reboots the next. This has happened 5 times in the past week or so. I believe it might be related to XP SP2. I'm not even sure this is the right fourm... but I guess it doesn't hurt to ask for help.

It might be a heat/power problem.

If you are overclocking, turn it down.
Take a look inside your case. Does your fan spin ok? Is there a ton of dust? You may need to get a can of compressed air and blow the dust out, or buy a new fan.
How powerful is your power supply, and how powerful is your machine? If you are running a 3Ghz P4 and a Radeon X800 on a 200watt powersupply, you will have these kind of problems.

EDIT: I forgot to add, try upgrading your motherboard chipset drivers and your video card drivers. Also, you should be running NS Beta 5, as that is the newest version.

Ah, did not know that beta 5 existed, and I'm under clocking, and have a 350 watt power supply. Also I've never had these problems before in the past.

    Why are you underclocking?

I used to underclock my athlon T-bird for the simple fact it would get to hot and the cpu would lock up..

and sometimes I also just did it because it was drawing to much from my weak powersupply, either or this should be a reason to underclock, and I see know others why he is... if he is... then that..takes the cake for no reason at all

GeForce FX 5200 128mb. I now have beta 5 and the number of crashes as gone from 5 in a week to 15 in a day. WTH?

I think I might have stopped underclocking, but I'm not sure... oh well...

Rebooting could be the cause of a critical error or rebooting could occur when your power supply is too weak. In your case you have a big enough power supply IMO. It all depends what kind of chip your running.

Also another factor that cause contribute to a computer reboot while playing a game, is your system getting wayyy to hot. I suggest downloading speedfan or motherboard monitor to check up on your temps to see if they start getting critical or not.

If you post your processor information I can reply with the correct chart and temsp your processor should not run over, even if at full load.

but underclocking may be the issues here as its like putting a truck going at 50 mph in reverse and slamming on the peddle, bad things happen the transmission will completely screw up. ( stickshift truck that is )

Setting your processor back to normal speeds may do the trick, and if this doesn't work, more than likely its a processor related problem with your cpu gettting too hot. I know some computers will either reboot or shut off due to the fact it gets to hot and doesnt want your cpu to fry.

Your Computer can be very informative when an error occurs. IF an error occures then You can do the following to get the rquired information concerning it. right click on your "myComputer" >> "Properties" >> Advanced >> Steup + Recovery" >>disable were it should say reboot automaticly. this wont stop it from having the eror BUT you should get what the techs call "the blue screen" it should show some sort of error. copy it down then rebbot if you post it here I can serch how to fix it or whats causing it.

Also If you do that an it reboots thesn eithers your PSU is not enough or your computer still overheats and as a safe guard reboot for the CPU to cool down.

    hope this works
