Just a place to post my work on skin, and hopefully get feedback/crit

This is my first skin.

All screens will be from HLMV -- No pretty renders to make the skin look better <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

nice work so far, but maybe a bit noisy/grainy ?
might just be the pic tho

    Really too noisy.
It cant be the pic, the arms look normal.
(heh just realized my skin had the bullets magically attatched, nanites <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo--> )

actually, the only noise/grain-ing that could possibly be there is from the reduction to the 8-bit bmp.

you also have to realize that is a severe close-up of the shell.

ok -- i'd really like some help here, but i dont know of any way of preventing this other than going straight down to pixel painting (which i'd prefer not to do)

you have to realize this has also been optimized (its much prettier in my program) <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    here is my 24bit skin:

my 8bit ends up graining out, and greening up -- hopefully someone can assist me with controlling this, or knows of a way to fix this:

    What program are you using?

yeah bullet gradients always seem to do that, for me at least. too much colour variation i guess. donno what to tell you but dont worry about it. also you should have just posted in my thread <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Bassh: well-- i didn't want to hi-jack your thread <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> anyway, im sure alot of it is the gradient... im gonna have to play with the pallet and see if i can get out some of the greening that is going on.

    srry bashh -- i know its 2 H's ... i just get in a hurry and miss-type

anyway, thx delarosa -- worked like a charm. also, i found that my problem was the fact that i was copy and pasting into an indexed image rather than copy pasting and converting -- this resolved alot too. anyway, thx much

btw -- were/are you in United Admins (name looks familiar)
