What's the difference.
Just what the topic description says. Flayra wrote that NS2 and Ns : s will both use Source engine (and or UT3) so what will be the difference exept we will have to pay for NS2?
Ns2 will have single player or something?
Ns2 will have single player or something?

NS2 comes after NS1 (duh )
Natural-Selection one is the first encouter. Natural-Selection two is the war.
Btw where is this thread I'm hearing so much about?
Planet Half-Life took that news update as official word that NS:Source is 100% going to happen. I hate it when they do stuff like that...
When I first saw that I thought "Wow some new developments?" when I read the headline, and I got a couple of sentences in and then thought "same old same old"
NS2 will be 50$ retail game. Whole new game.
NS:S will be free mod. This is basicly NS with Source engine.
Don't expect anyone of these before 2006 so you're not dissapointed. NS2 will take even longer.
actually he said ns2 will run on a new-generation engine, like hl2 & ut3 for example. I persume they would rather use/modify existing one, than write a completely new one.
but than again... who knows?

The game design has been started (hoo-boy, fun stuff), but this will be a full-fledged $50 (or so) retail game, not a mod. It will use a next-generation engine (like Source, Unreal Engine 3, etc.) and will take years and millions of dollars to create.

should we expect MMORPG or sth?
It might turn out that they really don't like source at all and don't use the engine, instead use like the new Quake engine or something
God forbid we have to pay for something. Even when the something is more than worth a $50 price tag.
NS:S = Free and potential of being boxed to sell, just for the convience, I would just love to see it boxed anyways.
Just to support UE.
Amen.
Though, I have yet to finish my donation of $50, I've only got the minimum $20 in at the moment. I need to do that second half- I've spent more time playing NS than all my MMORPGs combined!
NS2. Think YEARS for that one. I think for that one they should go for UT3 engine cause that's just gonna take a hell of a long time to get up and running and sold. So don't be counting the days canuse you'll be counting a lot of them.

The difference is that, NS2 will only be made available to people that understand what Flayra wrote
Lol. I didn't spread any rumour . Read my text again, I just copied what was written on the news.
Will they keep updating NS : S though? Since Source offers more classes and weapons than Hl1 engine or will they stop working on NS : S and focus fire on NS2 (If They decide to work on NS : S )
Dev Answering time!

The fun part is watching Supernorn have to explain it to people in the PHL forums - again... and again... and again...

I for one welcome our new NS:Source overlords.
Edit: Oh poo, my Avatar is 404. Dagnabit, now I need to get a new one...

I hope they will use Unreal or ID new engines.... so maybe we can play a Linux or Mac version as well.
I'm really exited by the idea of NS:S and NS2.
Please just read my front page news update, I think it makes most of this clear.
The dev teams for NS and NS2 will eventually be totally separate, so both will continue to be updated for the years to come.
NS2 will be a totally new game and will have both single-player and multi-player. It's going to be a much bigger 'leap forward' then NS was.
