Going back to DOOM's criticism of F.E.A.R. I don't really buy that it's "Doom3 plus Max Payne minus the good bits", but what struck me from the 11min movie they released is that the guy gets out of a chopper and shoots a bunch of people while hiding behind cover, with dust and debris scattered everywhere limiting visibility, then goes through a corridor, then goes into a room and shoots a bunch of people while hiding behind cover, with dust and debris scattered everywhere limiting visibility, then goes through a corridor, then goes into a room and shoots a bunch of people while hiding behind cover, with dust and debris scattered everywhere limiting visibility, then goes through a corridor, then goes into a room and shoots a bunch of people while hiding behind cover, with dust and debris scattered everywhere limiting visibility, then goes through a corridor, then goes into a room ...

Resident Evil 4. Oh baby, I'm importing from the US via Lik-Sang, for cheaper than the retail price of an eventual UK release. God bless the strong pound. Should be with me next week, Monday for you lucky Americans!

Man, it's gonna be tough for 2005 to match the last year. None, and I mean NONE of the announced 2005 have found it way into my "must-buy" list yet.

In 2004 there was the like of
Half-Life 2, City of Heroes, Call of Duty series, The Sims 2, World of Warcraft (haven't bought it yet, may be later)

Out of the games out there, there're FF 12 and City of Villains that interest me a bit.
But Final Fantasy series has disappointed me lately (Is it too much to ask for the tone of FF VI, FF VII, FF IX instead of pretty boys, semi-nude girls in an overly-complicated battle system). City of Villains... pfft... the very concept is the opposite of what I like about City of Heroes.

I'm looking forward to Battlefield 2 and Stalker. I just hope there wont be the broken English that currently exists with Stalker.

Yeah, I've been waiting for Resident Evil 4.

    S.T.A.L.K.E.R. looks pretty good.

And KFS, hopefully Quake IV can be added to the list later. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Stalker looks kick-bottom.

Call of Cthulhu looks like I might need to play it with a night-light.

I'm kinda looking forward to Mercenaries. STALKER also looks very sweet, but I wish they'd release it already. Everything else I want this year escapes me at the moment. I'll get back to you on some more games.

NINJA EDIT: Oh yeah, RE4 looks pwn, but I don't know about Quake IV. I hope they stick with the old Quake 1 and 2 guns. I'd like to see a connection between Q4 and Quake 1. I never understood how Q2 was related to Quake 1. I was hoping Q4 would take place in the same times as Quake 1, but sadly it's Q2. :\

NO!!! DO NOT GET THAT GAME! EA owns the rights for the Timesplitters franchise now, which means it's not forbidden to all gamers that actually have a clue of what they're doing.

Very simply, EA is the bane of all good games. EA enjoys taking good games (Goldenye 007 GG), and crapping them up. The biggest example of this is the James Bond series, which gets worse and worse for every game. Goldeneye: Rogue Agent? You've gotta be kidding me. All they did was steal the name of the original so that EA could **** even more money than already.

    ANTI-EA FOREVER.

My goodness. The man included the expansion to Doom3, but completly forgot about S.T.A.L.K.E.R, which will be vaporwear if they hang in development any longer.

Hey, I'm listing the list of stuff -I- care about, and encouraging you to do the same relative to your own preferences. Personally any shred of excitement I may have had for Stalker has turned into a big pile of bleh. What I've heard of the gameplay sounds horrible and I don't find the graphics/art particularly impressive.

If it's good, more power to it, but I'm not wasting any of my time hoping. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

But its set in Chernobyl. And Cherynobyl is in the Ukraine. Last time I checked, they don't speak a whole lot of English in the Ukraine.

What about Guild Wars? I think it comes out Feb or March.

Also, I tried the demo of Yager and that looks pretty cool. I think it comes out in late Jan.

Yager's been out well over a year. I have it, and it's okay but nothing special. It didn't sell at all well so it can probably be found in a bargain bin somewhere.

Yes, that makes sense, but for a game it's irrelevant - particuarly when the dialogue text and interface is the culprit.

    If they don't get some good localization, this could be mind-numbingly bad <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

STALKER should be quite an interesting game to say the least.

I'm curious how when they state that it's a 30(?) km/square world you can run around in, is it one huge giant map and it loads constantly (ALA Dungeon Siege)... or are they just have an appearance of space and a sense of travelling a distance (ALA HL2)

Also if this game had COOP SP, me and my friends could die happy happy men.

Red Alert 3 was anounced but i dont know if this is a good or a bad thing, and they did say possibly 2005 holiday, but odds are slim to none.

30km30km but broken down into 2 (or something close)km squared maps. Not linear like HL2, Doom 3 etc.
