The warnings came after the hole was identified on the Bugtraq Internet security discussion list by someone using the name "Rafel Ivgi." The hole affects Internet Explorer Version 6.0.0, including the version released with Windows XP Service Pack 2. The vulnerability allows malicious attackers to bypass warnings designed to inform users when a file is being passed to their computers using a specially-crafted HTML Web document.

Microsoft officials weren't immediately able to comment on the issue. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

It's awsome how they tell everyone about it before they fix it XD

And then they say how they fix it

    FIREFOX FOREVER!

God I wish I had that link to that Microsoft guy who wrote an essay about all the negative points about Firefox.

It's hilarious on so many goddamn levels.
"Microsoft warns you that it is an unverified product! Use IE, we won't even warn you when stuff installs!"

Once you go Firefox, you never go back~

For the plugins. And security. And so your browser has a cooler icon, and name. And, easier updating.

I guess you don't mind all the tracking cookies you get while using IE that never get put on your computer if you use Firefox.

Using a browser that doesn't rape web standards is quite nice, as well.

(I use Opera, but mostly out of habit and the fact that I have it set up just the way I want it. Firefox is lovely too.)

I use Firefox because it keeps the Firefox Missionaries away. Nothing defuses them as quickly as saying "but I already use it." And I've still got IE for the stuff that FF won't display properly.

Yes, there is a nasty memory leak in Firefox that pops up sometimes. I really hope they fix it soon. As a temporary fix, minimize and restore your window. It'll clear the memory, and go back to the normal amount.

A lot of spyware and exploites aren't directed at firefox users because there aren't enough ff users for it to be viable, and because if you use firefox, chances are you know not to press the buttons saying THISISNOTAVIRUS.EXE, but the irony (or Catch 22?) is that as firefox increases in popularity, it will increase the attention paid to it by would be eAssailants.

^^ browsers built off the IE engine may have the UI side of firefox/opera but they are still prone to exploits.
