How might this issue be fixed?

it is impossible to play like this. current drivers for os i ahve also tryed changing lightgamma and gamma to fix this neither helped boosting gamma way up in windows does not properly or effectivly fix.

as you cant see that is the bottem right of the screen where the comm menu SHOULD be visible yet is not.

heres a full screen (please note that that is the absolute BEST i have gotten it evin with the lightgama stuff in game it is still a bit darker then seen here..

If there are just 2D icons and sprites too dark, i got the same problem like u.
i just posted it as graphic problems.
is your stats-menu completly green, and do you get any error message after joining a game?
Maybe this is the same error!!

OK, i m very sure now.
when im in the cc i get the same results like you!
3d has normal brightness, the icons are dark.
accually its not a gamma problem, it has to to anything with the display driver.
@all: so ppl plz dont tell us about setting "lightgamma" up to .. or whatever.
my error message is
"display doesnt support downloadable gam" it is gam, so there must be an error in any *.gam file. First, i would guess, liblist.gam. but i tried annother one, and it didnt have any effect.
Sum1 has an idea??

it appears to be related to xpsp2 and os's later then that ie 2k3 installed win2k and it works fine go back to 2k3 and its screwed again.

Ok, now i tried typical debugging stuff. i completly removed ns and reinstalled it. i changed my graphics driver and even the monitor and soundcard drivers...
it's confusing. NS has always been working fine, and from one day to the other, these errors appear..

and btw: i'm using Win2000 in server editon. tried it with, and without SP4.. it seems that it's not related to the os..

Neither drivers, or the installation.
I dont know how to go on!

I see the same on Win98SE (re: downloadable gam message) so it deffo isn't just XPSP2 or higher affected by this

When i switched to w2k it went away so i dont know where the issue is. 2kpro sp4 worked fine. 2k3 srv did not. 64bit xp didnt either

what graphics card and driver are you all using?

geforce 2 52.16 driver version in 2k3 28.32? in win2k

Geforce 3 TI200, not sure which driver version, but its dated 5-2-03 on Win98SE

Same problem here, running 64-bit XP beta.
GeForce 6800GT with the 66.96 drivers
Worked fine on this system when I was using win2k.

once you open your display propertys, click on settings, then the advanced buttin
then the adapter tab, then the propertys buttin, and finaly click on the driver tab. it will say driver provider, date and then version. in my case it is 5.2.1.6
which corisponds to detonator 52.16.

also soul rider it would be nice if you said what irc network you used..

Looks like i'm on 4.14.10.4403 (I believe the 5.x series may cause problems with older cards)

you are most likely correct there has been a lot of problems with drivers made for newer cards. that why i try to stick with 28.x since my gforce is a 2 gforce 3's tend to like a 3x.x cant remember the exact # and also omega drivers. 4? and above lost the omega option due to nvidia sending the person who made the omega drivers a cease and disist order.

here is a error message im getting when i close the console. we are wondering if it means game? or gamma?

here are 2 more examples of how it is very hard to see any thing in the game. immages are brighter then what i see in game. in ayumi the marine was always dark how ever you can see some color in the uniform here.. the floor patern would be completley dark you could almoas make out there was a texture on the ground untill you get to a light. playing around with windows gamma and such i can get it to be about as clear as this picture but obvously much darker then other players as i hide in what i think are shadows and people wonder why i just stand in a well lighted room.

here in eclipse i have the player list brought up while every one is in the rr. like the skill bar and the com interface you cant realy see the other players names
