However, its not transmitting nor when I hit the TAB in game to check scores do I have a Speaker next to my name.... I've conversed with quite a few people and none of us can figure out what is going on....

Have you actually run the voice setup util from Sierra?

Also, can you get input from this mic in windows? i.e. open sound recorder or something and see if you can record yourself talking.

I know what your problem is.

For some STUPID reason the sierra voice software ALWAYS resets to mic1 for input. I found this out cause I have an Audigy platinum and was using the front mic port. After the latest HL update, I can no longer do so. I can *change* it to mic2, but as soon as the game starts it goes back to mic1.

I sent Sierra a VERY detailed explanation of all of this and they totally blew me off. I even included screenshots.

you dont need to run the voice program in sierra, from my experiences.

there are alot of threads about this problem. try searching for them.

Nate as for what is set in the Config.cfg for the voice options... This is what I'm getting:

    voice_scale "0.990000"
    voice_enable "1"
    voice_forcemicrecord "1.000000"

not exactly sure where to look for threads on this subject still working on finding those...

As for the device working, I'm positive it does, I'm a broadcaster for www.wsbn.com, mic works fantastic... The one issue I have, due to the setup I have my mic is not ported through my Mic input.... Its setup through my line in's..... But as for everything else voice related TeamSound, TeamSpeak, TeamSpeak2, RogerWilco, BCom.... This has never been a problem whatsoever.

As for the install, when I installed HL it did the setup utility for the voice comm, and said it was working fine... I'm still at a loss to explain why this isn't working, it doesn't make sense.

All I know is I still don't have the speaker next to my name in the game info (by hitting TAB) and no one can hear me yet.

Unfortunately, I think so. I hope to someday convince Sierra that this problem actually *does* exist... but until then... sorry <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

Unless you have a mic1 jack and can plug another mic into it... or something...

make sure your config.cfg in NS folder has all commands with the word "voice" in it set to 1, except the scale command. with is default .75
