<div class="IPBDescription">shattered dreams</div> I was feeling kinky today so I made a sling. "But what is a SILNG???!!??!11oneeleven1" I hear you say. Well, slings were used in roman times and slingers looked like this:
<img src='http://slinging.org/siteimages/assslingSideGraphics.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
They used a one piece of leather design, however, it's much simpler to use a piece of fabric and two bits of string/shoelace. Here is a simple modern sling:
<a href='http://slinging.org/articleimages/11/image023.jpg' target='_blank'><img src='http://slinging.org/articleimages/11/image024.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' /></a>
I made one of these and went to the yard to practace. I thought to myself, hmm a rock will probably break a window but a fruit, especially one as soft and juicy as a plum, probably won't. I was right, the fruit harmlessly went into the air a couple times, once or twice into the ground and once straight down the driveway. Then I got too cocky and tried flinging it really hard and it broke my neighbours window <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
(yes, dreams=windows in title)
So lets all make slings!
What you need:
a piece of fabric (or similar bendy material) about 4" by 2" (10x5 cm)
scissors to cut the fabric into this shape
two shoelaces or pieces of string about the length from your heart to your hand.
a way to make holes (holepunch or scissors)
some fruit of average
What to do:
1) cut the fabric into shape.
2) make four holes in it, one in each corner.
<img src='http://img199.exs.cx/img199/5016/17yx.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
3) thread the string through the holes to make a cup for the projectile.
<img src='http://img199.exs.cx/img199/4674/25gs.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
4) On one end make a loop, on the other tie a knot.
<img src='http://img199.exs.cx/img199/3430/38hn.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
THATS IT!
Now to sling your first fruit:
Put the loop end on your finger which is next to your pinky (what is that, the anti-index finger?). Grip the knot between your index and middle fingers. Pop a fruit/vegetable/stone into the pouch and you're ready to go.
<img src='http://img199.exs.cx/img199/5409/hand5zj.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
There's 3 ways to do this: overhand, underhand and lasso-style. Overhand and underhand are the easiest for beginners so I will show you how to do those.
Start with the pouch in your non-slinging hand and extended infront of you. Assume the position.
<img src='http://img199.exs.cx/img199/6505/position3bh.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
If you're swinging overhand bring the sling down and around behind you, releasing the knot when your hand is about (or just below) level with the ground.
If you're swinging underhand bring the sling up and around behind you, releasing the knot when your hand is about (or just above) level with the ground.
<img src='http://img199.exs.cx/img199/6350/zing1no.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
With practace you should be able to fling 100 pound stones hundreds of miles with little effort.
Note: do not break windows.

As mentioned, this is with the help of 'Practace'. Obviously, this must be the newest advancement in muscle-enhancing steroids that endows the user with super-human strength.
Are you sure you meant hundreds of miles?
No, you don't hear me say. Everyone knows what a sling is. That's like "I was thirsty one day so I went to get a drink of water. 'But what is a DRINK OF WATER???!!??!11oneeleven1' I hear you say." Don't act so smart <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
"BUT WAIT," you say, "WHAT IS A BOWEL MOVEMENT??!!!??!!MORDOR"
Well, I'll show you, with the help of some disturbingly violent diagrams!

. . .
Jokes suck anyways - who the hell laughs anymore? No, the new trend is ignoring the joke and making snide comments! SNIDE ON, BROHAM
BUT WHAT IS A RANDOM SPAM POST I HEAR YOU SAY?!?!?!?!?IDIOTNOB
I would try the sling, but since this is downtown Montreal, I would surely destroy some francophone's property.
I'm more of a throwing knives guy, myself (for which tent pegs make an acceptable substitute).

All the more reason to sling away!
