Sound Quits In Every Game

<div class="IPBDescription">help</div> My sound nearly completely (I can still hear ambient map sounds but nothing else) cuts out after some amount of time on a server. Anyone got a fix?

I've tried DX hardware excel on and off with no change.

specs:
intel 850 board with on-board sound
p4 1.8
512 rambus
geforce 3
dx 8.1
2 x 40gig hd's
seated facing east ; )

I have the voice com feature turnded off but I do hear everyone else using it while sound is working. I'm not playing any other mods so I don't know if it's a rs problem or a hl problem. I've never had any sound issues with any other games.

All ideas welcome,

My sounds cuts out if anything 'interrupts' the game with another sound. Try not to have anything running in the background like AIM that might make noise. If the sound does cut out I can hit Esc to go back to the menu screen then hit Esc again to return to the game and this usually fixes the sound.

Your comp's a lot better than mine but that's my experience with sound problems.

heya all, i was looking for an answer to this, and found it.

check your config.cfg, there are these values

    MP3Volume "0.800000"
    bgmvolume "0.000000"
    hisound "1.000000"
    suitvolume "0.500000"
    volume "0.500000"

i THINK that by tweaknig these values will help out.

thank Jamil from #cofr for these tips on what these values are:

<Jamil> mp3volume is probably the map sounds. bgmvolume is the music, hisound means hiquality sounds, suitvolume isn't used, and volume is the guns firing and stuff.

Well seeing as how it works at first it's prolly not the volume eh ? <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
