That's paraylze, from 1.x. You could fire it at a marine, and they wouldn't be able to move, but they could still fire. I don't know which hive that weapon went with, because you needed 3 hives to have an onos.

Also, I have no idea why it would change to paralise (it's happened to me though), because xeno is slot 4, and the logged bug says that it changes to the slot X (where X is what weapon slot you had) weapon on the alien you're spectating.
Seriously why is that still in the game? Aren't those one of those cosmetic glitches from the way-back days? Like the marine noises in a relocated marine spawn?

As mentioned, it's the parylyze ability. This bug is fixed in beta6, courtesy of yours truly (The old weapons models appeared when spectating and when playing, spikes showed on lerks and acid rocket showed on fades, as well as parylyze). Just match up old weapons and their slots with new weapons and their slots when speccing and you'll often see old models in the place of the correct models.

The random welding sound is obviously from someone welding somewhere on the map, not sure why it appears in random locations though (it happens in classic as well as combat).

And yeah, seeing those things is just one of the spectating bugs that affects pretty much all the aliens. MMmm sounds like NS is built like my PCs personal filing system, old bits eveywhere.
If it could be worked to be /stuck free I would <3 it back, it was awesome, and you really could "fade" in and out
