How Come My Offense Chambers Sometimes Get Owned..

I built a handful of offence chambers outside a doorway covered by 2 defense chambers, i did end up building more between the 2 doorways. and another couple of attack/def chambers and it blocked the whole left direction outta the marine base which is pretty good.

The marines unsprrisingly didnt like this, and ended building like 10 turrets and 6 seige turrets. It took the marines like 30 mins to get through my 8 turrets and 3 def chambers, which is pretty good.

They did break through in the end, some 30+ mins later, but by then i'd built another line of them a bit further down the hallway, where it tightens up to a walkway type thing. This one i had loadsa offense chambers and like 5 def chambers but the seige gun got through my offense chambers in a matter of mins, whereas my other place it took aaages.

8 offense chambers - 3 def chambers vs. 6 seige guns + endless turrets + loadsa marines = 30+mins held

-against-

10 offense chambers (or more than previos pos) + 5 def chambers vs. 1 seige gun = 5 mins lasting.

Thats about it really, just dont understand how come my first wall lasted that much longer against loadsa seige guns, turrets, marines etc whereas my 2nd wall was better defended but was taken out by just 1 seige gun =/

    If you stack your chambers, for some reason, it can make them invincible to siege turrets. I was a gorge on ns_nancy, and I built defense chambers and stacked several on the ledge near the ladders that lead into the messhall. The marines, like most of the time, set siege turrets there, and my chambers lasted the entire game. A few marines came up and destroyed some, but by the end of the game, I had two or three left out of 4.

    (And since the chambers were so nicely placed, no aliens died from the siege turrets. yay!)


    Edit: Also, there's a lot of other variables, the siege turrets could've been firing at something that was closer sometimes, or maybe you're teammates took down the turret factory for awhile.

    Perhaps you built your offensive chambers so close to the siege turrets that when they fired through the wall the splash damagae may have hit them? I have experinced this before when building a siege turret close to a defense chamber and when my siege turret shot at the defense chamber it lost some health itself. :|

    impossible.....6 siege? 3-4 siege is enuff to take out everything

    Sometimes a chamber becomes invulnerable to siege. You can fire on it with any number of siege cannons ... doesn't matter, it will take NO damage. However, if you get there and eliminate the chamber by hand - or rather, by HMG - then it goes away and the sieges switches targets and quickly eliminates the remaining chambers - unless they find a new super-chamber, of course.

    And no, I have seen nothing to indicate that this has anything to do with stacking - I have seen it happen to both stacked and unstacked chambers.

    So, that it took 30 minutes to clear the first obstruction was most probably due to a super chamber that was finally taken out by hand. The 5-minutes-to-clear is the usual for a siege cannon against what you describe - I think an offensive chamber is about 3 shots, 15 seconds for a siege cannon.

    Sometimes siege is useless. In my last game I was the commander. I built two sieges to take out a resource/oc/dc cluste,r but no damage was done to the chambers.

    IT is the case that there are invincible Off Chambers I have tried to reproduce the effect (lan games) however it doesn't seem to be anything regular

    However the devs do know about this (It has been brought up many times)

    As a side note, anything above 3 deff chambers is pointless b/c they do NOT heal faster, it is specificly stated that they platoue out at 3, so it is not the case that I build 20 deff chambers and they will live for ever (b/c again only 3 will heal any one thing at once)

    seems as though there is alot of bugs that affect the game very dramatically. be sure to post them in the bugs forum. and matso i heard that hmg's don't work either. maybe there is different types of this problem?

    I've noticed this before too, but I've never though anything of it until now. I noticed also that it happened to both stacked and unstacked chambers, but the Super Chamber happens most often with the defense chamber. (From what I've seen.) So just get lucky and hope that siege targets your defense chamber!
