I need some help
Heres the thing I swim, but I've been sick for the past week. Because of that I only have about 3 days to get in shape for the last meet of the season. This meet means the difference between qualifying for districts in my events or just getting good times.
I'm thinking that if you guys give me some good songs to listen to before the meet I'll go a little faster in the water, thats all I really need. I'm .02 seconds of districts in the 100m freestyle. So does anyone have any good pump up songs that they like to listen to before big sporting events or other things? Oh and to keep this from becoming a spam thread (it theres a good chance it will anyway) why don't you post the reason that song gets you pumped up.

This was the song they opened up with at their concert that I was in.
It was their first concert preformance back in PA after a long tour around the US. They were very happy to be back in their home state and omg did that song really start off a concert that kicked some major oni ****. To say it got the crowd moving...
Paul Oakenfold "Ready Steady Go"
Blur "Song 2"
These are both two of those classic "pump you up lets take this thing head on" type of songs.
Slipknot "Duality"
That will get the jucies flowing, mostly the angry ones.
Also their song, "My Plauge", well it was in the Resident Evil soundtrack for a reason.
Overseer "Doomsday"
The Roots andd BT "Tao of the Machine"
"Panik Kontrol" - Psykosonik
"Leave You Far Behind"- Lunatic Calm
These songs are more industrial and both do a great job of getting in that mood.
Smile DK - Butterfly (Upswing Mix) [hehe]
Foreigner - Jukebox Hero
anything by Mindless Self Indulgence [especially 'Diabolical']

That said, you don't need music. You should be thinking more about just swimming, not being angry or hyped up, which will distract you and ruin any technique you might have.
Swimming 100m freestyle? Reach with your strokes, kick hard and fast [don't use your knees], don't swing your head around too much for breaths [breathe only every 3 strokes, slow down your breathing before the race], lift your chest/head out of the water as much as you can, don't look to the sides at your competitors, swim hard for the first 50m, after the turn do all out and don't stop. It sounds like you only have one race to do so kill yourself swimming the last leg. You should barely be able to get out of the water after the race [even using the ladder].
Remember to stretch liberally before hand, and keep warm before the race. Don't think about your competitors or look at them [this is a killer], just do your hardest and push the limits. Keep your technique clean and smooth.
Beastie Boys - Sabotage
Fatbot Slim - Slash Dot Slash
THIS!
Iron Maiden - Run to the Hills
Iron Maiden - The Fallen Angel
Iron Maiden - The Trooper
Iron Maiden - The Wicker Man
Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast
Iron Maiden - Murder in the Rue Morgue
Iron Maiden - The Ides of March
Well that concludes my Iron Maiden section...now for Manowar (Fantasy Metal with a "omg I want to ride a horse while holding my sword and KILL" kind of feel)
Manowar - Dawn Of Battle
Manowar - Hand of Doom
Manowar - Battle Hymns
Manowar - Fight Untill We Die
If these don't get you fired up. You don't deserve to be fired up
oh a reason...well metal just gets me psyched and feeling larger than life and that I can take the whole world on. It gets all of your daily life out of your body and all you can focus on is the metal.
Atreyu
The Agony Scene
Norma Jean
Throwdown
Avenged Sevenfold (not that hardcore)
Killswitch Engage
woot
Also, if you really need alot agressive energy fast, check out Wolf Eyes. If the first two tracks off Burned Mind don't get your heart beating a little quicker, your probably deaf.
Now if either of those are bit too much for your ears, which anyone who has heard them will tell you is perfectly understandable, not everybody goes for the whole screaming thing, I might suggest going at little counter-intuitive on this one. Sometimes, in situtation where I am going to be on preformance, I've found ti more useful to relax and calm down a little before hand. I never was big in to competative sports, so I can't say if this would work in your case, but at anyrate, some try some relaxing, calming, yet energetic enough to keep you focused music. For this I would recomend Radiohead. Amazing band fo being mainstream and all. Hail to the Theif would probably be the best album for this purpose, though OK Computer is also outstanding, and musicaly a superior work.
Another band along those lines is Godspeed You Black Emperor. They have extermly long tracks(20 minutes is on the short side for them), so this would be a better, get focused a while before hand. But the album Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven is simply the most beautiful music I have ever heard. EVER. Check them out
Juno Reactor - Masters of the Universe
Motörhead - March or Die
Motörhead - Riding with the Driver
Motörhead...
Motörhead...
Black Sabbath - Wall of Sleep
umm... yea
That's what I listen to whenever I need a boost
And Benny Benassi - Satisfaction kinda works too
MORTAL KOMBAT!!!
Best fight (or sports if you're a pansy) song ever.
Primus, anything by them. Foot stompingly groovy.
I'll limit my suggestions to that.
Talk about epic

Dimmu Borgir - Vredesbyrd. This song is like it's MADE for some serious adrenaline surges. It's incredibly fast and powerful.
Megadeth - Moto Psycho. This song is about going fast. Do you need more?
Manowar - Hail and Kill. Really powerful.
Finntroll - VargTimmen. God, I love this song.
Go on, listen to these. You know you want to.
Johnny Cash's When The Man Comes Around is my personal favorite.
Crystal Method, The Name of the Game.
Joe "Bean" Esposito, "You're the Best" (Which is the music from the Karate Kid Tournament montage scene. If that doesn't work, I don't know what will).
Hell, It probably doesn't even need music to pump you up:
--------------------------------------
Try to be best
‘Cause you’re only a man
And a man’s gotta learn to take it
Try to believe
Though the going gets rough
That you gotta hang tough to make it
History repeats itself
Try and you’ll succeed
Never doubt that you’re the one
And you can have your dreams!
You’re the best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down
You’re the Best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down
You’re the Best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you dow-ow-ow-ow-own
Fight ‘til the end
Cause your life will depend
On the strength that you have inside you
Ah you gotta be proud
starin’ out in the cloud
When the odds in the game defy you
Try your best to win them all
and one day time will tell
when you’re the one that’s standing there
you’ll reach the final bell!
You’re the best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down
You’re the Best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down
You’re the Best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you dow-ow-ow-ho-how-ho-own
INSPIRING GUITAR SOLO
You’re the best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down
You’re the Best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down
You’re the Best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you dow-ow-ow-ow-own
Fight ‘til you drop
never stop
can’t give up
Til you reach the top (FIGHT!)
you’re the best in town (FIGHT!)
Listen to that sound
A little bit of all you got
Can never bring you down
You’re the best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down
You’re the Best!
Around!
repeat to fade, occasional background shouts of “Oh Ye-eah!”
Queens of the Stone Age - Go with the Flow
The Dust Brothers - Fight Club Titles
Ash - Meltdown
