<div class="IPBDescription">uh..again</div> Well, I've tried searching for a posted that I posted asking what would be the best optical mouse to get to play Natural-Selection and other games without having problems . I heard 510MX Logitech are decent, and models higher than that are good too. But I'm also looking for a cheap one. <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' />

I personally have had no problems with the MX310 and like it moreso than the MX510 because of the mouse4 and mouse5 button placements - I will play left handed on occasion.

I <3 my MX-510...I wasn't quite sure I'd like the feel of it over my older, broken, ambidextrous mouse, but that changed pretty darn quickly for me. It never skips, the weight is about the same as my old mouse (I can't stand heavy mice), and it's just awesome overall...It's a bit pricey, but I can assure you it's money well spent.

pretty cheap. i payed like 50 for mx500, and it works wonders. My sister even wants one, and she doesn't game. it just feels right. (for right handers)

Latency problems in optical mice are gone for a loooong time. And Logitech's "new" serie (from 300 to 900) are just perfect for gaming, although the wireless ones (700/900) are a bit heavy and unappropriate if you like to lift the mouse to quickly move it to the other side of the mousepad.
300, 310, 500, 510... are just better than any regular ball mouse. There's no point in taking non-optical mouse. :)

the best mouse that exists by far is the logitech mx1000 laser mouse - its 20x more sensitive than optical - not to mention its cordless and has an equal response time to any corded usb mouse - combine it with a decent gaming mouse pad and you'll be the best fade on your server <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' />

EDIT: oh yeah it is slightly heavier than a normal mouse due the to the cell phone battery inside it , but imho it adds to the feel and accuracy of it - there is no need to move it from the mouse pad as stated above is the correct settings are applied.
And believe it or not its more comfortable than mx500/700/900 - it even has a rest for your thumb when your not using the thumb button.

I have a old "logitech ClicK!" and i love it, those mx mice are kinda heavy (for being a mouse). Dont buy cordless they'r even heavier, but good if you like cordless.

schkorpio, I bought one for another computer and tried it on NS. It's great in terms of performance and ergonomy, that's for sure. But as I pointed out, if you like to lift your mouse a lot, there's another issue than the weight: when you lift your mouse and put it down, there's a (very) little time during which the mouse doesn't react. It's insignificant when you work, surf (and anyway you don't lift your mouse in those cases), but when you play at a FPS with a low sensitivity and you have to lift the mouse to make a 180° or even to turn at 90° (especially at fade :)), it's really a pain, the kind of pain that makes you die. I finally had to take my MX300 back, after seeing other people had the same problem (and then concluded it wasn't an hardware problem or a bug, it was just "normal").

i think 3 or 4 of my friends have the same mouse and we are all content with it

Screw mice, go trackball. Makes gaming a bit more... uhm... interesting. You may die more often, but hey, at least you can enjoy watching your death whilst you lie in bed like a lazy bastard.

I saw this post right as I was about to post and ask if I was the only person in the world who games with a trackball. You definately don't die more often if you use a trackball, it's just a different playing style all together. You have to adapt to not moving your hand, and being more precise with your thumb (or index/middle fingers, whatever style you get), but atleast you don't have to move the mouse back to a spot on the mousepad/desk when you run out of room.

I,ll vouch for the MX700's!
I own one myself and have never had a problem with it. Takes a lil while for your hand to adjust to the extra big size but once your over the hand ache there isnt a mouse that can beat the accuracy i feel!

Only thing ive found is the MX700 doesn't like Counter-Strike very much, it sometime skips abeat, but under NS ive never had one problem!

I own a Logitech MX 510 Red, I think it's the best mouse i've ever used, I used to own a 300, which is a good mouse but this is alot better and it shows, I'm also anxious to try the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer...it looks like a pretty decent mouse, you might also wan't to look into a mouse pad, I have a steelpad and I notice a big difference with it as well, I don't think id play without it. You can buy a c4 gaming pad which is like the steelpad 4d off of ebay for like 10$, I reccomend buying a mouse off ebay and make sure the guy has good feedback, cause you can get a good one for cheaper..I bought my mx for 50$ from best buy and my mousepad for 30$..forgot where. anyways look into the logitech, check reviews of the mice from google, such as a variety of em, mx 510 review, Intellimouse review, 310 review...ect. check before you buy.

There is a problem with certain model numbers of logitech MX1000s, I am one of the unlucky ones. The mouse exhibits some horrendous jumping characteristics which the most recent version of the software does not fix. I returned my mouse and am using my 5 year old Original intellimouse explorer. May go for the MX510. Check the forums on the logitech site for info. In games, you frequently end up looking backwards or at the ceiling, annoying when you are about to make a sweet focus bite on marine and end up as HMG mince.

Please don't try to make suggestions as to how this problem can be fixed, it's nothing to do with mouse charge, base station proximity, mousing surface or anything like that.

My Logitech MX700 is the ****.

I'm in love with it. It's too heavy for some peoples' tastes, but I like the weight. It feels solid. Any mice made within the last couple of years will have no latency issues, so all it really comes down to these days is price and personal preference.

I'm really a Logitech fanboy, though. Best peripherals available.

My mousepad is..my desk. I just can't find a decent mousepad around here, the best I could find was the Ratzpad GS, but that had problems with my hand sticking to the pad.

MX510 is hot sauce. Although nothing has even come close to beating my OLD trackball mouse. It was like an aimbot on TFC it was so rediculous. Fear the sniper o.O

MX500 ftw.

Only cost me £25.

5 buttons useable in games; an extra 3 for windows apps (mostly scroll hax).

I personally wouldn't go for wireless mice. I used a microsoft one and it was crap.

Also, when you get nubbed by a lone skulk; you can easily punish yourself by staring at the red light.

DISCLAIMER: Don't stare at the red light!

One more thing, if you go for a logitech mouse, use the utility to bind whatever keys you can to "generic" keys, such as the thumb keys. These will still work as foreward and back buttons after, but they will also work in games. Silly logitech.

Oh, and if anyone can work out if the scroll wheel rocking side to side is a function, let me know. It doesn't seem to do anything and i can't bind it in the logitech mouse tools.
