Hi MonsE!
Boom
Most excellent reference, thanks!
This guide also has some real good registry tweaks and extra programs that will help speed up boot times, etc.
Only works for 15 days, but most of the things you'd do with it are one time things anyways.
Its a must get for optimizing and customizing Windows.
indeed
i like this book, you should too

D: I think he meant tweaking stuff, not aesthetics.
If you ever get done I'll mirror a copy, that tweak guide is great as it is, even if it is old, I was thinking of mirroring a copy anyways just to keep it up from whenever the google cache goes down.

I shant poke MonsE directly. I shall poke one of the Microsoft Lawyer Ninjas under his control until he agrees to tell MonsE to update it.
Hopefully MonsE will be able to hear the request from inside his Bill Gates 1 Mecha suit. (Ninja are rather quiet people, you know)
[edit]That's right. Not only did I just poke a ninja, I used the word "shant" in the process. That's got to be some sort of triple word bonus or something
1): In regards to setting your page file size as a multiple of your physical memory, does this refer to your RAM or what?

Can any harm come from defragging TO often?

You guessed correctly, physical memory = RAM.
As far as I'm aware, the only harm that can come from defragging is that you're making the hard drive do something, and over the course of multiple years constant activity may increase the risk of the drive having a mechanical failure on the inside. It just makes logical sense when you have the equivalent of a wheel turning a whole lot of times within close proximity to a needle. Then again, defragging more often means that each time it defrags, it has less work to do. Once every one or two weeks is fine for my purposes.

Set "initial size" and "maximum size" both to 2560MB. But if possible you should do it on a harddrive that doesn't have the OS installed on it. This should all be covered in the guide. Which I will upload a .doc of just so people don't use the google cache.
TuneXP itself ?
get the TweakXP pdf guide. Then you will have everything.

I have only 1 disk. Also, it suggests this be done immediately following installation of the OS, so would I not reap any benefits by doing it now?
Yes, you would still get benefits from it now. But that only works if its actually on annother disk, not just annother partition.
Marik's posts rock pretty much all the time. That's why I like him.

I recommend the ClearType Tuner from the MS Powertoys.
Makes the text look all nice. Like a Mac! (Which was one of the only things, in fact the only thing the Mac did great!)
