Bad news, Rhino can't export into DoGA.
It can, however do these: IGES, STEP, Wavefront, AutoCAD DWG/DXF, 3DStudio, ACIS, Parasolid, Lightwave, Raw Triangles, POV-Ray Mesh, Moray UDO, Stereolithography, VRML, Adobe Illustrator, Windows MetaFile, Renderman, CSV, VDA, AGLib, GHS, Viewpoint, and SLC.
The preferred files (keeping all the Model information) and the most common ones are: 3Ds and LWO <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

hmm...does anyone here have Metasequoia? can you tell me what types of model files it uses? because with Metasequoia, I can make a DoGA file, then skin this sexy sucker.
edit: I see... a programm without any reference how to use it. great. anyone got some freetime to sell <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

what's the poly count? Hawk from CDG likes it and will more than likely do it for ns and css if poly count is good. bullethead things there a bunch of wasted polies though..

I left out a few little details (safety, fire selector, etc., plus I noticed a few glitches, so it would prolly end up around 2450, but definitely less than 2500<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd--> moo

the question is: what filetype is it NOW? <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
The file is currently Rhinoceros, aka 3DM. Rhino is a CAD package, not a game modeler, so it doesn't export to most game editor mesh formats. LWO and 3DS are the preferred export types, 3DS if possible. Milkshape can take 3DS, that much I know for sure. I've never used metasequoia, and don't have time to learn it...
Also, I'm going to remake a bunch of parts of the model - I've noticed a lot of things that I want to change, which will take some time, and I'd like to up the poly count a little bit, especially on the curves, but keep it under 3000. I'll let Sid know when it's more ready to be brought into a game. Thanks so much for all the interest though!
Edit:
Also, what is the practical limit for the number of polygons used in a weapon model in NS? I've read that the HL engine doesn't like over 500, but that could mostly be a hardware limit of the time... I would like to make this model directly exportable without ruining it. Can anyone toss me some info in this thread?
I'm not sure but it can take a lot of damage. 3k is nothing but you might want to keep it as low as you can cuz theres a very good chance that it will get ported into CSS for the m249 ~.^

and it even looks more scifi. is it completely custom made or builded after some serious reference?
