Some don't. To be honest, along with what Nem0 said, I find that V-day actually means less to me because it's a corporate-mandated "holiday" where you apparently *have* to do something special - because if you don't, then your sig other should/would/will get upset - because it's a day they're "supposed" to expect something special?
Also, what's with this tradition that it's the guy that's supposed to buy candy and flowers and such? Same-sex relationships aside, it seems pretty one-sided, no?
You shouldn't have to buy anything. You shouldn't have to have a day given to you where you're "supposed" to tell someone you love them or take them out to a fancy dinner or whatever. Feeling particularly lovestruck? Do something about it. Don't wait for the market to tell you what day you should be expressing it on. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> Once again, who cares? So what if companies make money? That's what they do. I won't even be spending time with the girl anyways (although, judging from her tonight, I'm going to need a serious shower when I get back from her place Tuesday night). I'll probably send her something, but who knows.
Anyways, you guys seem to be forgetting that the holiday is just a day set aside for people to be a little extravagent in the romance area. I can tell this girl how much I enjoy her any day of the week, but it's a little more fun on Valentine's.
Now stop arguing with me. This thread is for those of us who have someone that we're doing something for, even if it is belated. Although, I must admit that I don't need Valentines for what's coming my way Tuesday.
This is all good and all, but what's REALLY sad is that you all think you can change each others opinions. THAT'S classic! <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
