IN MY POCKET!
For those of you that haven't heard of Nethack, it's a turn-based RPG that has its roots in ancient computer gaming history. It was the next logicial step after text-based adventure games. Initially it was just ascii art, but it's evolved slightly over the years. One of it's main drawcards is that it's supposed to be able to run on anything.

Anything.

Windows, Mac, Linux, WinCE, Smartphones, anything with a few meg of storage

I had an old HP Jornada 540 PocketPC laying partially broken in my cupboard so I decided to put it to use for some NetHacky goodness. I pulled it apart, cut the wires supplying power to the screen via a plug, soldered the wires straight to the PCB and started her up, works just fine.

I downloaded the WinCE 3.0 SH3 installer from the site and tried to install it, BUT ALAS! Microshite strikes again, activesync wouldn't let me install it because it wasn't a certified, signed cab. Or somesuch rubbish. After a little bit of help from the nice people at rec.games.roguelike.nethack I found out that I had to copy a cab file from a dir inside ActiveSync to the device and install it from there.

The result: CONCENTRATED AWESOMENESS!
