From experience and conversations.
Prior the patch, the marines were overpowered with their grenades and wall of turrets. So what happends after the patch? Well, the fades got upgraded a bit, which IMO isn't any big deal, since they were weak before. So let's say fades are balanced. But what happend with the marines' wall of turrets? They increased the cost of a turret to 19 res, then added a requirement to must keep it functional for turrets to work, what does this lead? Well the comm needs to spend a lot of time waiting for res to secure a res noz ( cover all flanks) which in turn leads to the aliens taking the second hive before the marines have chance of getting HA, hmg it's possibe that they get tho I think the game is fine except that the turret nerfing just got a bit too much.

it's like this, ok? nobody is underpowerd. that's just the image you get stuck in your head from suck **obscenity** team mates and commanders. i've personally gone out and killed 3 fades at once, with jsut a hmg and jetpack. it all really depends on how good you and your team is. if you know your stuff, you can easily win. most alien teams are made up of newbies who know they have more Ar and HP, and can "own".
so i say to you, get up, move faster, find better team work.
I have to say the opposite, I think fades are a bigger problem this patch. It feels like fades have received such a boost it practically makes onos' less attractive. Why go for the lumbering melee only onos when you have a fade that has an awesome melee and projectile attack. Add on to that the fact that hopefully bile bomb will start functioning properly soon, and you've got a wrecking machine.
The joke going around on some of the servers I've played is "Great, they got fades, GG". The only thing I find disturbing is that the marines have to seemingly work a helluva lot harder to win a game than the aliens do this patch.
I played two games on Hera the other night, one as marines one as aliens. The first game I drew marines, and we fought easily the longest damn battle I've ever played, but it was a losing one GG though, both sides were great strategists and courageous. Then both teams switched off players (aliens went marine, vice versa). And suddenly I wasn't trying as hard but still winning. To me at least I think it shouldn't feel that way. Needless to say we won that one.
I dunno, to me it felt like 1.0 was slightly more balanced than this version. In 1.0, sure the aliens were at a slight disadvantage, but they didn't have to work as hard then as marines have to now in order to secure a map and defeat the enemy. That's just my take on it though

Nope, if you don't have good marines who can aim (especially important in the beginning with skulk-rushes) u're gonna lose.

fade + lvl3 carapace = marine + HA
fade + carapace + adren = marine + HA + HMG
fade + carapace + adren + umbra = marine + HA + grenades
Onos = ....
Onos + umbra = ........................
ya, onos usually = alien win
But yet, when all is said and done, both teams are only as good as the players, and the game is determined in the beginning. When I play as a marine I can see how easy it is to kill skulks. I kill 2-3 at a time no problem. As alien I can see how easy it is to kill marines. I can take one down one or two at a time, then take out an rs tower. then run back to regen, or sneak around some more.
now, after experiencing both sides, I'd have to say that when the aliens get the second hive, that is sort of a turning point. Either the marines will be good enough to stop them from getting 3rd hive, or they lose.
+ carapace + celerity + enhanced sight is a light armor chomping machine. Unless the marines are real good, if I get 2 or 3 upgrades on my skulk and they still have light armor, there really is no hope for them.
a. have a good commander
b. have a bunch of soldiers that listens to him
c. secure all the hive location ASAP
d. every1 knows already, wat's the point of me posting here ?
I've heard both sides called "unbalanced" and I just hope the NS team knows the answer(and has a plan of action), and is keeping quiet about it(so people can't rally behind the offical voice). I think that both sides are unbalanced and overpowered, thus they both cancel each other out and everything becomes balanced!
no, no, no, no.
One marine vs One fade, the fade will probably win. Why? because they can blibk to close range and slice and dice will the marine looks around and tried to find him, Or just jump above and rain acid down. Now, let's see.
Four marines vs Four fades, the marines will probably win. Why? because the marines know they need to more together, the Fades are more used to sneaking up on a marine individually. So while the marine open fire the fades decide either to use blink to get close or use acid from range. The ones that blink close will get mowed down by their target's teammates. While one marine is relatively easy to kill, while you're slashing that one his friends will all see you and hit you easily at that distance. The ones that don't blink will attack with acid, but will be outgunned easily by the remaining marine's collective firepower. And if anyone gets damaged all they need to do is fall back behind cover and get repairs, while the fades and unable to get close for the kill because the other marine are still there.
The key to this whole thing is teamwork. If the 4 aliens where 2 fades, a lerk and a gorge. And they all worked together well, they would would win. But what if the marines weren't all HA+HMG? what if one guy had a jet pack and a GL? then the aliens a screwed because, if the marines all work together well, the light guy is protected by the HAs, but anytime the aliens attack he just jets up to the ceiling and fires out a 'nade, Bang!, the gorge for healing is dead and maybe the lerk to, Umbra is down and the aliens are retreating again. The Key To The Whole Thing Is Teamwork. Which ever team works together better, wins. Period.
Bad Marines + Bad commander = theres no point......
Bad Marines + Good Commander = depends on the aliens.....
Normal Marines + Good Commander = some teamplay spirit and they win
Good Marines + Good/Normal Commander = teh pwn
