<b>The forgotten Hero</b>
you play as a city 17 hobo, named Fred Benedict who after having slept the 7 hour war over wakes up and starts exploring the streets, wich have been overrun with combine soldiers. Fred do not realize the changes before a glasswearing orangesuit wearing man named Gordon asks him for directions to Black Mesa - Gordon Freeman lets fred follow him around for some time, but Fred falls behind and get caught by combine police. Fred is put into arrest and after 3 hours in a security hold (constantly being poked by the officers with bananas and other fruits) mister Freeman comes to the rescue (this all happend in HL2 when you were getting something to drink). Fred is now walking the streets again, bothering the police and vild animals. Fred then shoots himself in the foot. I won't tell the whole story, you have to play it!
The expansion promises that the sentence "you have never loved me!" will be triggered at least 5 times per hour. The expansion will also allow the player to gather the other hobos named 'Klaüze' and 'Gregor' to help him in his quest for freedom and a hotdog. He also have a sidekick called 'dog' wich is a little bulldog/golden retreiver crossbreed rapies infected dog.
It is not yet decided if the hobo-mode should be added to multiplayer - up to 64 players run around capturing good places on the street to sleep on - while collecting cardboard boxes and old newspapers.
If you order the gold version of the expansion you also get the nostral-feedback gamepad - wich connected to your nose will simulate the different smells Benedict - fred, encounters throughout the campaign. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I want an expansion where you play as shepard RIGHT after the incident, unveiling the mystery between the black mesa incident and city 17 liberation. Nothing would be cooler than fighting with about 10 marines through suburban areas with tanks and helicopters blowing stuff up <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Plus they could make a good storyline for it VERY easy.
Crap, you guys posted it before I did... But I got the idea for an expansion in which you play as Adrian Shephard fighting the Seven Hours War a week ago.
Basically, I was playing HL2 and thought to myself "Huh, those Marines from HL would kick the Combine's ****. I wonder what happened in that damn war?"
I want to see Adrian brought back by the G-man from his stasis, back to America. Not City 17. Definitely the return of the squadmates - and I don't mean useless civilian cannon fodder that constantly tell you to reload like in HL2 - I mean the badass guys with the gas masks and M249s. Maybe one chapter in Black Mesa half-way through to get to Xen (to restart the Alien Grunt factory again? Crank out some Gargantuas to help the humans?), replete with spooky music and lots of dust in that partially destroyed chamber Gordon used to get to Xen in HL1. I'd also definitely like to see some fighting in the desert - Surface Tension was one of the best chapters in any game, ever, and I'd also like to see fighting in at least one major city. It can be a generic "City 2" type deal, or it could be Santa Fe. I can imagine it now - one of those huge Citadels teleports in from a portal storm over the city, hits the ground and shoots out those huge support cables to right itself. Only you and your military buddies blow up the supports and the whole thing crashes down on its side. Oh yea, and portal storms. You can be walking through the desert and all of a sudden your in a patch of the Combine world, then a few more steps and you're out again.
But I think the underlying reason is that I'd love to see a bunch of Abrams messing up a Strider.
[edit] Oh yea, the topic at hand: Alyx as a playable character?! Are they trying to ruin the style and feel they sacrificed so much character development for? She's already a character, and definitely is not someone where you can just jump into her head and say "I'm in City 17," like you can with Gordon.
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Man, an Opposing Force sequel taking place during the Seven Hours War would be the ownage. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Yea. OpFor2: Seven Hour War.
You would be asked by G-Man to perform some gurella missions against the Combine. You help lead attacks on the Combine, maybe killing off one of their important leaders and such. However, the G-Man realizes it is futile, and puts you back in stasis in order to preserve you until you can return and assist Freeman in an attack to turn the tide.
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->one thing i would hate to see if adrian fighting alongside gordon.. it would kill his character so much...<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Whats wrong with two sides teaming up to save their species?
They would have similar goals, Destroyer, but you could also consider Adrian and Gordon forces of nature because they kick so much ****. It'd be best to have them on other sides of the planet dishing it out. Also, it would be humourous to see two mutes fighting alongside each other - not to mention subconsciously alienating players who used to fit right into these roles by making them think "Hey, I wouldn't do it that way."
Keep in mind that in HL1 and its expansion packs, there was no interaction between main player characters. You saw Barney from Blue Shift in the intro tram ride but never spoke to him, and saw Adrian's fellow marines but never Adrian himself. I wouldn't be surprised if that distance were kept in HL2, because turning Alyx into a mute makes no sense.
Personally, I want to know what happened in Xen after Nihilanth died. And what they did during the Combine occupation of Earth, besides what appears to be a mass Vortigaunt exodus.
Hell, they should do what Point of View did, and let you play as one of the Vortigaunts.

Since I suppose this is the closest to an HL2 discussion topic at the moment, I figured I'd post something that I've noticed. Just a small detail that you might not think of.
<span style='color:red'>HL2 SPOILERS SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T COMPLETED THE FIRST CHAPTER DO NOT CONTINUE SPOILER WARNING</span> Now, remember how Dr. Breen reads a letter to the citizens in the Trainstation? The letter asks why the Combine has deemed it necessary to turn on the supression field, to stop the humans from mating. Anyway, later, you get to the playground, and you notice how it's abandoned, old, rusted etc. There's even a broken doll on the ground. Also ever notice how there are no children at all in C17? That's right, the supression field stops the humans from mating, so the last remaining humans in C17 are the last of their generation. Though if the Combine wanted to end the human species, couldn't they just shoot them? Anyway, I didn't really think of this until I played through the intro a few times. Valve certainly pays attention to detail. <span style='color:red'>no more spoilers now</span>
Anyway, more to the topic, yes, I'd love an expansion pack with Adrian Shepherd. Hell, it'd be even better if you saw Gordon for a short while, like in OpFor (where he runs into the portal). I'm not too sure about an Alyx/Dog mod, I mean, I suppose it could work but I'd rather they stay the same. I suppose playing as Dog would be cool for the first 5 minutes, but it doesn't really allow for many weapons and ways to kill people, you know? You'd have like... punch, slam, kick. No ranged weapons either. But eh, we'll have to see what Valve are planning.

Lots of the Xen creatures get through to City17 through the portal storms, If Adrian Shephard was stranded there, there might have been a chance of a portal opening up and him being able to get back to Earth to kick some combine butt.

Just because Earth officially surrenders doesn't mean Shephard has to take that crap and put down his gun. Somehow I don't think the good ol' hgrunts from HL1 would just stop in the middle of fragging Combies and blowing up Striders.
