<div class="IPBDescription">New project</div> Well I was working on this all day yesterday while I was sick. And it was pretty hard heh. I've almost completed the inside except for some minor chnages here and there. I'll be starting the outside soon. Having some problems with the prop_static features but I can figure that out. Other than that, enjoy the pics, comments and suggestions are welcome. If you're going to flame, screw your self and think about others' feelings.
The outside will contain a parking lot, an office for you to enter from, a locker area for combines and headcrabs, and fences around the area with some generators and other things.

Alright some people were complaining about the lighting and stuff. Fixed the lighting, added roundness to the pool for detail, fixed the prop_physic and prop_static errors, and fixed some texture errors and things.

did you post this in mapping? better idea there.
Congradulations on making a boxmap though, it may be a great learning experiance, but it's not worth 22 screenshots. And uninteresting in general, after a few more months of practice, make somthing worth while, then come back and post screenshots of that.

No, seriously, never show your early attempts at mapping. Ever. Take pride in your progress, but delete what you have and continue moving on, until your prowess is worthy of public consumption.

Agreed. A map that gets you castrated in the offtopic forum will net you a rusty-spork gouge-out by a grizzly bear in the mapping forum.
That means realizing that your map, while an important first step for you in your learning, is nothing special. It could be made by any experienced mapper in less time than it took for you to write your post.
This means a few things:
1) Nobody wants to play your map. It's one big room, and that's it. It isn't anything original.
2) There is no need for other people to "test" your map. It is one big room. See 1)
3) Caboose was correct in regards to not needing 20 screenshots of your one room.
If you cannot take the critism of the posters in this thread, none of which have been flaming, then perhaps you had choose a better hobby than mapping, because once you start making maps people take seriously (i.e. not just one room) you will have a lot more specific criticism, and judging by your reactions so far you will not be able to take it well.
Every mapper has their first map. And every mapper's first map looks just like yours. You've taken your first step into a new world, so don't be discouraged. However, every mapper's first map looks just like yours. This means that its nothing special, does not merit 'public release', and most important of all, no one will play it.
Keep working at it, and come back in a year with an original map, and then we'll talk. Until then, keep working at it, as the only way you get better is to just keep practicing.
Not ture! I quite clearly flamed him, or at a minimum, flamed the map. I may have overreacted, but the crap statement looked like a flame to me.
Too bad the 12 story, fully-detailed office building didn't fare as well (...woot, 12 floors and stairs...how exciting <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> ).
This flooded underground base (it was awesome, except the bots would never reach the redeemer, plus it had errors because I had no idea what the heck I was doing). Plus it was basically all boxed rooms.
The rural city, had a water tower and stuff. Still fairly boxy - but getting better. There was one cool aircraft hanger that looked pretty cool (with default UT textures)
Then there was the minature city...which was actually cool, you were like Godzilla sized compared to the stuff around you. That was probably around my 20th map, and it was pretty small. It was awesome though, you could run into the beach and get to the continental shelf, and if you went along far enough you'd get to the Redeemer.
I figure my works still not NS quality, but it does have an architectual style I'd rate a bit higher than dod_zafod (if that's the one I'm thinking of). There's a shot in the CS:S zombies thread...if I ever get around to finishing that map...
