well if you have windows 2000/me then there is your problem. You have 2 OSs installed, that must play hell with your computer <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
next up is that NS is darker then most games, you can play with the gamma commands to change some of that.
and define dark. some poeple think if there are shadows that you can't see aliens in it is to dark.

Try a 3rd-party gamma tweak, like Powerstrip. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> wat is a 3rd tingy lol
I don't think wesker is just complaining about the normal darkness, i've just got a new computer, and now it is much much darker than before. i still have my old computer set up in my room, and after running half life and counter strike on both, I found it is definitely darker on this new one. However, when I transferred a screenshot of what my screen looks like on my old computer via floppy disk to this one, i found that it suddenly looked darker, and the same as what NS looks like when running on this comp. So, I guess it must be my monitor, but what can I do? I've tried ajusting the brightness, contrast and gamma settings both on my monitor and in-game, it doesn't help much. Any ideas?
Try you software gamma settings. Those would be the settings in you graphics card's driver package. Catalyst for ATI and some desktop thingy for GeForce.
NS blocks out powerstrip and ATI settings. They do not work. Which now makes the game unplayable for more than a handful of people. The onnly thing that works now is lightgamma, and it works fine on some maps but other maps doesn't do enough.

If you use the ATI facility and set up hotkeys for gamma you can adjust the gamma levels in-game. It does work, i know, i have a very old monitor which is absolutely hopeless but i use the hotkeys in-game to play at a playable level.
[EDIT] Of course the other thing to check is that you are adjusting the levels for full screen 3d mode, rather than desktop mode. If you are changing settings for desktop mode you wont see them in-game, use the fullscreen 3d option and adjust the levels on that one, then it works.[/EDIT]
