<div class="IPBDescription">NS Cross stitch for the WIN!!!!!!</div> So with my wife being so crafty (as in likes to do crafts) and her trying to get us to do more together... AND knowing the chances of her playing NS are 1 in several pages of 9's, I decided to oblige her and do a cross stitch.
I learned how when we had a christmas party one year where all the gifts had to be hand-made and that was the craft de-jour of my wife...
So I have some skillz in this area.
So to apese her yet do something with NS... I'm planning on doing a 7 inch by 7 inch cross stitch of the NS "eye", I hope it's ok (in a legal sense) since I don't intend to sell these <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I set the application (that turns the image into a pattern) to use 100 colours so it's going to be a little bit blockier in terms of pallette but it looks very good from the preview...
So I have my pattern.. I'll try to grab some ss's of it so you can see what the pattern looks like...
Should be fun!!!!!
Perhaps later a cross stitch of the concept drawings can happen <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Yes... I'm a nerd....

Comments
for serious
Lots and lots of pix!!
It's still on hold but this guy makes good patterns.
<img src='http://fc.gedsb.net/~windlema/full_image.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
This is the full image as it will appear (only it will be 7 inches by 7 inches) The detail is quite impressive I think..
<img src='http://fc.gedsb.net/~windlema/detail.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
This is a small section of the "eye" portion... For those who care each box indicates 1 stitch.. I counted 53 * 31 just for this small portion.. That's 1643 stitches JUST for the part visible here.
So I'll be printing this out and starting to gather supplies this weekend. Hopefully I'll have a couple hundred stitches done for Monday so I can show you a little progress
(it will most likely be the upper left side, mostly black up there..
Enjoy...
Edit: In yo face sizer <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Until then, <span style='color:white'>***Moved.***</span>
ARGOO!!!!
Anyway, gonna pick up a couple of threads and the cloth needed to start this.. this weekend.. Look for updates probably Sunday.
Just take some of the locked threads in the I&S - save yourself some money.

Ok...
Got some of my supplies.. and more pictures!!!
So I'll educate as I go along here..
Here are the threads...
<img src='http://fc.gedsb.net/~windlema/allurthreadrbelong2us.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
This is about 1/2 of all the thread colours I will need... But I started collecting it..
There are 3 main brands of thread, each one uses a different number to identify the colour (which makes it fun trying to figure out what you have/what you don't).. Here are the 2 types I've bought:
<img src='http://fc.gedsb.net/~windlema/typesofthread.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
And lastly the "cloth" that holds it all together is called aida cloth, I chose black since we are dealing with a dark project...
It's 12X18"'s so I'll be hacking it apart when I'm done...
<img src='http://fc.gedsb.net/~windlema/aidacloth.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
You may be able to see through it a bit, that's because the holes for stitching are already poked in it...
Just as an FYI, I looked at the pattern, it's 100 rows by 98 columns.. So in total 9800 individual cross-stitches or 19600 individual stitches...
I'm going to be starting at the bottom right as there is a huge patch of black and black-brown over there (large patches are easier since you can stitch a complete row as opposed to a single stitch)...
I will start on this tonight... and post new pictures (though black on black stinks for images) and a countdown to how far into this I am...
Oh one other purchase.. As you can see from the threads once you remove them from their bindings they flop all over the place, so you get "cards" to wind them on...
<img src='http://fc.gedsb.net/~windlema/cards.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
So as I start working with the threads I'll also be winding them up <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Total cost (without tax so far) in Canadian funds:
21 threads at 3 for a buck = $7.00
Aida cloth = $2.50
cards = $2.00
24 threads at 2 for a buck = $12.00
so totalled------------------------------
$23.50 plus 15% tax!!!
So just the materials cost a few bucks (but I expect to have a bunch of thread left over if I decide to make another one..) and I still need 1/2 of the thread colours...
this is nice! btw how the heck can u take all the tedious stitching? I personally couldn't stick with it for more than a day...or maybe an hour...nah, make that one minute...roflmao...
Must... Resist... Temptation...
grandad! <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
reminds me of the past friday night
this is kinda cool! keep working! (more more faster faster!)
Brilliant! The Zunnis' and the grandparents of the world will rule the game concept business! Mwaha. *cough* <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/nerd-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I have 90% of the thread carded, so it's ready to go, but I realized one of the colours I'm missing is pretty important to my plan, so I'll be forced to change plans slightly and work from the bottom right and do all the black down there (which sucks for pictures)
However, I'll post an update as to the number of stitches completed (even if you won't be able to see anything) so you have an idea of my overall progress..
I'll be getting to "actual" stitching tonight.

sorry for quoting the pic but i needed it as a reference... it instantly reminded me of <a href='http://www.yikes.com/~pengo/8bit/' target='_blank'>this site</a> where the author made a super mario bros murial out of post it notes... this would be reall cool to do for the ns eye as well! i doubt there are that many shades of post-it notes though <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
We'll be the official NS cross Stitch team.. and we can get uniforms, and caps with our own cross stitched designs on them..
We can setup booths at craft show and terrorize the other participants...
I can see it all now..
