I'm going out tonight to get a new game, and I was just wondering which of the following 2 I should get. Its such a tough decision

Gran Turismo 4 or NFSU 2?

NFSU2 has a Rise Against song in the soundtrack, therefore you should get NSFU2.

that would be a reason not to get it

I'd get NFSU 2 if i were you, but i haven't played GT4

I'd get GT4, even if it isn't that much of an advance beyond GT3.

Meh, how people get excited about GT is beyond me. It looks awesome, but c'mon, driving around in circles? There are more exciting driving games, imo, like Need for Speed. NFS FTW!

I cannot give you a balanced recommendation, as I have only played NFSU2. But I think it's a very good game. And even though I am not the type for "pimping" stuff out (casemods? Plexiglass and neon in your computer case? Why waste money on that when you can upgrade your RAM or buy a new harddisc instead?), it really grows on you. My car looks so cool now.

You don't drive in circles in Gran Turismo, man.

And as someone who's played both to death:

Gran Turismo 4.

While NFSU2 is damned fun(and customizable as they come), it has a fatal flaw: All the vehicles feel the same with the same upgrades. My Mazda Miata should have tons more handling and accelleration than my TT- nope. Its a great game for a while, but then it begins to get boring.

I've been playing GT4 a ton, and I gotta say: All the cars feel VERY different, and I love how I can go between tight city tracks to huge mountainous rally tracks to a long proffessional track without having to own 3 different games. And STILL have more vehicular customization. Not to mention, GT4 requires 10x the skill as NFSU2(I could win any race at all throughout it's entirety. In GT4, I had trouble for a long time, but even now, I have problems).

Also, 700 cars, most with different years/models(including the slight differences), huuuuuuuge customization when it comes to professional options(aka, not many visual customizations, but tons for your engine/tires/exhaust/turbo/drive train/frame). And over 100 tracks, it won't lack on drivable terrain(though NFSU2 definately has lots of room to drive, you usually end up using the same exact tracks throughout it).

Though, in the end, it comes down to the person: Do you like an arcady racing game, or a pure sim? I'd love to see another GT4 afficianado out there, but if you like arcade-style physics, NFSU2 is for you.

They said they where going to release different versions of gt4.

Something like:
Regular
Nike edition (or something like that)
Online version
Kids version (WTH?).

I actually gave NFSU2 a rent, and bought GT4. Of the two, I like GT a lot more... there's a REAL degree of skill needed to learn your car, upgrade it, relearn it, and stick your turns on the money, or a little bit more.

Plus, the first time you beat a race and pull down 120+ A-Spec points (sheer luck on my part, I think) is a great feeling. The only part I dislike is the inability to PAINT YOUR CAR. I bought my Mirage in the game (more or less) but am unable to paint it white. Instead I'm stuck with black. Zippy as hell nevertheless, and I can hardly wait to see what it'll do with a Stage 3 turbo.
I'd also have liked to see engine swaps put in, allowing that much more customizability. But that'd have been even MORE work to get the 700+ cars ready.
As far as I'm concerned, I could have done without all the cars that they have NO specs for, and have zero resale value, in exchange.

NFSU2 is fun in a popcorn sense. A friend actually owns it, and never plays it any more... there's no replay value after you beat it. Sure, you can trick out various cars however, but beyond that... there's nothing left.
GT4, you are always pushing yourself to try and stick that line a little closer, shave off another few hundredths of a second.

(because pimping is cheaper than hardware )

(and because it gives you like 100 extra megahurtzes lolol)

I'd say NFSU2, and that's because it's the only one of the two i've played.

To be honest, it's just plain fun, it's not in any way realistic or a simulation, and that's fine with me, on the whole i've only liked one other driving game and that was Mario Kart.
