Keamos' Nsdraft Poll

Marik_SteeleMarik_Steele To rule in hell... Join Date: 2002-11-20 Member: 9466Members
edited March 2005 in NS General Discussion
Keamos is asking for this poll question to be put up because he has recieved the original NSDraft source from Optikal, and if enough people are interested, he'll bring it back.

If you aren't aware of what NSDraft is, a FAQ is currently here.

Keamos also points out you don't have to be a member of an NS clan to join.

EDIT - Please explain why if you vote for no.

I'd play. It'd be like Pugging once again but hopefully with some more intelligent people.

Playing with people who have less experience than me is irritating.

I don't think its a good idea, it has been tried before.

Some questions to ask are, how do you stop people from smurfing to stack teams?

Who will be chosen as team captains?

What if you don't like the team you are on?

the first two draft leagues failed because people were frustrated about teams.

    Good luck though.

I would assume that some sort of continuity (like, say, a league that actually lasts a decent amount of time) would solve these problems. Good captains will stand out, weak captains will stop being captains. Good players will become known. Teams will become balanced. It won't become balanced the first or probably even the second season. After that, it will become fairly balanced. The NFL/NBA/etc weren't balanced their first time around, but they are balanced enough now to be fun to play in and watch.

Sure, I'd play in it. I've not really been actively seeking out clans, but I know that I have skills equal to or better than a lot of clanners, so I have little doubt I'd be recruited out of this...

The first one died because they waited for 3.0 to come out (which it still hasn't, obviously).

To stop smurfing, I'll just check SteamIDs with the ones on CAL and rename players as needed. Team captains would preferably have experience with clanning, so, people such as yourself would be picked, Firewater. If people don't like the teams they're on, on a case-by-case basis I'd switch them with other users that aren't happy (if there are any). Thanks for the good wishes.

Its true. Why do people form clans to compete based a lot on their own skill level. If someone can't pull their weight they get dropped.

Just because its not the nicest way to put it doesn't take away from its validity. It is frustrating to play on a team with lesser experienced players. Its even more frustrating to be forced on a team with lesser experienced players.

Its not fun for the person who has the skill.

I originally voted "no" in the poll... but I've changed my mind. I would like to see NSDraft attempted again, with strict anti-smurfing rules, and captains who know not only the competitive community, but are also able to spot skilled players from outside.

I would also hope that certain people (such as those who run NSLearn) would see this as another opportunity to help educate players instead of seeing them as a "nuissance".

In short this means good games with in-the-know people, support for the ever-in-crisis clan growth and lots-0-fun.

We can only help those who want to help themselves. To assume every player who signs up for NSdraft wants education would just be really naive.

Nslearn will be more active when the new version comes out, and we are releasing a special project for those who are non-competitive.

I voted no. While I gladly support it, I wouldn't be interested in it personally, hence a no. I don't play as much as I used to, just every now and again.

the question was not whether or not you would play..it was whether or not you would want it to return. if you plan on supporting such an effort then you voted incorrectly

Would I be "interested in it returning"? No, not really. Doesn't interest me at all. I think its a good idea but it would not personally interest me in the slightest.

    Yes for me.
Only one reservation though. The team picking would end up like a school team pick, with friendships being favoured over people who might be better than them. Anyone who wasn't popular at school will sympathize with me

It's not ALWAYS like that. It's usually that the non-athletic people are also not popular (who's that last truly athletic person you met that had few friends?)

But I would usually get picked at the beginning...since I'm popular..with friends. So yeah my whole argument is null.

Yes, it IS possible to have this many posts and be extremely social (i'm in high school, go to parties on weekends, dances, get hot & popular GFs, get fairly high grades...however I have no physical strength).

I think that points 5-9 on the website FAQ show that the people behind this aren't well versed in organized competitve NS. The team size should undoubtedly be 6, and HLTV can be waived in the face of individual demos.

Would the currant cal team's private servers be used for matches? Exactly who are the ns-d admins? I just feel like this would be a train wreck.
