Using Microphone Crashes Ns

<div class="IPBDescription">everytime.</div> I'm not exactly sure what the problem is, but it seems whenever I try to use my mic in NS, my game will crash and I have to ctrl+alt+del to get back to the desktop. This only happens in NS. I've tried my mic in hl dm and it doesn't crash there. I've updated my audio drivers, just in case. I've tried binding the voicecomm button to different keys. The only thing I haven't tried was reinstalling NS. I wanted to check here first to see if anyone else has experienced this problem and knows of a solution. Anyone got any ideas?

Does it crash when you do the mic test in the options menu?

I have had this problem in the past a few times.. Each time I resolved it by moving the NIC away from the IRQ that the soundcard and/or keyboard mouse were using. If all of these devices are sharing the same IRQ, when you hit the key bound to keying up the mic, the kb irq fires, the sound card goes into Full Duplex mode and the network card takes off as well. All of this at exactly the same time seems to overwhelm irq sharing. I'd suggest trying a new slot for the NIC and/or soundcard. Or you could try adjusting the IRQs in the bios. If you're running 2k you can rightclick on my computer and go to manage, then there is a section under tools that should list all devices sharing IRQs. If you have too many devices listed there that can cause issues like the one you are describing.

EDIT: In my case the issue happened in ns and dod so it may be something unrelated, still it's something to try.

No. I've tried the mic test several times to check and it hasn't crashed once.

I have an nForce motherboard, so the sound and ethernet adapter are built into it. I've checked to see if anything is sharing the same IRQ as the audio processing unit and I've found that the IEEE 1394 and USB controller are sharing the same IRQ. I can see if I can change around some IRQ's but, I don't think that will solve the problem.
