Metal Gear Solid 4!

<div class="IPBDescription">for "next-gen" console</div>Not that anyone didn't see this coming, however Hideo Kojima has now <a href='http://www.computerandvideogames.com/r/?page=http://www.computerandvideogames.com/news/news_story.php(que)id=115646' target='_blank'>publically stated</a> that work has indeed began on Metal Gear Solid 4.

<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Speaking to press at Konami's European launch event for Metal Gear Solid 3, currently underway in Berlin, Germany, Kojima-san revealed that Metal Gear Solid 4 "will be a next-generation title" and went on to say that number four will kick off a brand new series featuring Solid Snake.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I'm sure that by "next-generation" they mean "Playstation 3".

I hope that they do indeed re-invent the series storyline. Not that I don't absolutely love what they have now (with the exception of MGS2), 'the' Solid Snake has been in all five games except for the latest one, and honestly I feel that as a character its time for him to pass the torch. They know how much people hate Raiden (if you played MGS3, you know just how much they know :P), so they won't make that mistake twice.

Also, Hideo Kojima has stated that he won't be working hands-on with MGS4, but then again he said the exact same thing about MGS3 right after MGS2 came out, so who knows. He'll still be supervising the project, so no worries. Or lots of worries, depending on your viewpoint (and whether or not you've played MGS3). :P

I really hope to have <a href='http://www.espionagemod.com/' target='_blank'>Espionage</a> done before this one comes out. :P

I, being one of the five artsy-fartsy guys who couldn't tolerate Twin Snakes' writing in more than homeopathic doses, will have to admit that I am not really getting any adrenaline kick from this message...

What the hell? I still haven't finished MGS 3 yet D:.

    MGS 1 - Teh Win
MGS 2 - Teh Lewse (Except for the Tanker, obviously.)
    MGS 3 - Teh Win
MGS 4 - Teh Wtehf? Lolzolwlzw.

    ...

    Let's hope there's not a pattern going on. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    The pattern is more like:

    Metal Gear - Teh Win
Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake - Teh Win
Metal Gear Solid - Teh Win
Metal Gear Ghost Babel - Teh Win
Metal Gear Solid 2 - Teh Suck (except tanker)
Metal Gear Solid 3 - Teh Win.

    I think it's a safe bet. :P

Oo, MGS. I love the series.. except for MGS2. Yuck. I like how the storylines are all dramatic sometimes and undoubtably somewhat farfetched. Its awesome...

yeah some parts seem very well thought out and realistic and some other parts are very sci fi ish which makes the series awsome <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Will Solid Snake be in Metal Gear Acid? I haven't seen confirmation on that yet, but I figure he has to be from the screenshots/videos I've seen.

By far and away, the best thing about the MGS series is its soundtrack. Apart from the tanker level, it was the only reason why i played all the way through the second game. Does anyone know if they ever released the soundtrack on a cd?

I've heard a lot of rumours that the game is being developed for the next X-box, not the PS3. I just pray that the rumour mongers are wrong, because there's no way in hell i'm buying the new X-box. I WAS planning on doing so, until they announced that it wouldn't be backwards compatible with the original X-box.

And yeah, the soundtrack to MGS2 did kick exceptional amount of ****. If you didn't love the opening theme, you quite simply suck at life.

I'm pretty sure that stuff's still up in the air as well, since the HDD and backward compatibilty have just been circulating with rumors. It better be compatible, because they can go ..._____ themselves if they think I'm going to buy a new one that can't replace the broken-down POS that mine has become through normal wear.

Although, if you do have a news article that specifically states that backward compatibility, the HDD and only 2 controller ports are in it, I'd love to read it.

I haven't gotten around to playing MGS:3 yet (mostly because my PS2 is at someone else's house right now...because I resold it...because it sucked <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> . If the PS3 is PS2/PS1 backward compatible, I think that'd be the way to go. OR if the next Nintendo one is...since there's a bunch of cool Gamecube games. Anyway, I'd hope the 4th one is a bit more like 1 than 2 or 3 (although 3 does seem fairly open and exciting, the camo stuff seems tacky, to me) - that's the Solid versions...since the originals had very little in the way of actual stealth...aside from...sneaking passed sleeping dogs and soldiers.

Yes, you can get the OST (Original Sound Track) for Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2, and Metal Gear Solid 3. If you liked 2's soundtrack you'll love 1 and 3's. 1 is still the best though. <3 Cavern

I hope they let us kill Raiden while he hides in the bathroom again. Its funny how they made alot of references that he was g4y with the colonel.
