Constant Crashes

Whenever I join a server, I crash within about 15 seconds. No error is given, the screen just freezes. I can't alt-tab out either, so if I'm not running in windowed mode, I get kind of screwed.
Half-Life doesn't give me this problem, and I've reinstalled NS about 2 times.
Specs:
AMD Athlon 2700+ XP
ASUS A7N8X
1 gig DDR RAM
Radeon 9500
My board and video card have the latest drivers. I have attempted to use both Direct3D and OpenGL.
Sorry that I can't provide more info...

I've never had this crashing problem in the NS 3.0 betas, nor have I had it with any other games. I've tried updating my video drivers, but to no avail.
Help would be very appreciated.
Even Flayra said he never encountered this from any other Consties during the prebuilds. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Right click on the link to play Natural Selection (within Steam) and create a shortcut on the desktop.
Right click on the shortcut you just created and go to properties. At the end of the text in the target area add this "+clientport 27005" (Do not include the quotes just the text between them). That should fix the problem. Also, if you have multiple computers trying to play from the same lan, they each need their own client port so the second computer would be "+clientport 27006" and so on from there.
Make sure that you have steam fired up and then use the desktop shortcut to launch Natural-Selection from now on.

I assume I should open up port 27005 on my router before performing said fix? (I'm only running NS on one machine, so that won't be a problem.)
Edit: This fixed my problem! Thanks a LOT! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
