I´m getting the same error after 3.0

And I noticed it happened to other ppl playing aswell.
People got disconnected left and right yesterday when I was playing on a 16 player server.
Never happend to more than one player at a time. Average ping for ppl playing was about 100. Could happen during action or just while sitting in your hive evolving.

Could it have something to do with the rates and does anyone have any suggestions?

This has also happened to me several times. A restart of Steam normally fixes it, but I do not know the cause.

I did try changing my rates though, as I now have choke, and one time a Steam menu came up I had never seen before, prompting me to select my connection speed.

Be nice to have a smidge more info... but thanks any who.

Happening for me too, tho I assumed it was my variably frequent lag-spikes (hosting websites on personal DSL is bad for gameplay, but only in short bursts)

    Albatron GeForce4 Ti4600

    Source for the following statement?

Btw, I read on some wierd-forum that increasing your rate value to 10k might solve the problem, I'm going to try it.

edit: Nope didnt' work, still got the error.

I could have sworn that I heard somewhere else that the problem lied in the fix for the infamous weapon redout bug. For now, we'll just have to look at the Bugtracker entry for the redout bug (the login and password are "guest" and "guest"):

    <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/bt/bug_view_page.php?bug_id=0000497' target='_blank'>http://www.unknownworlds.com/bt/bug_view_p...?bug_id=0000497</a>

So, does that mean that it's now fixed and pending release in a small patch?

I won't form a conclusion until one of the developers or Bug Lords finds his way over here to tell us what's up.

Had this kind of problem a few months ago, at CBL. The only fix we could see for it was to shorten the players name, then connect, then change the name back to it's original.

We only ever noticed that with players that had more than 20 characters in their name. I think it got attributed to a bug in the Steam connection protocol, little bit like a FAT- name address problem, or a Joliet limit. It was still the only fix that we could do right up until CBL closed.

The bloody emails that me and Iain sent are still unanswered, and it still racks me as to what caused the problem in the first place. Was it an update to Steam, or to CS, or an engine tweak delivered as part of a Steam update?

    heres a couple hints:
I have two seperate steam accounts for hl2 and hl1, I did two CLEAN installs of NS 3.0, one with the old config.cfg (which had the settings from the lagless 2b5) and one which was the one that came with the installer.

Both of them, I used the name "Buh" and both of them had choke on the net_graph 3 jump from 4-47...

    system specs:
    2800xp+
    1gig 500mhz ddr hyperx ram
    RAID 0 7200rpm 8mb cache maxtors= 800gigs
    ATI x800 pro

    net specs via dslreports.com

Badguy as far as i know (and from LOTS of 56k experience) choke is caused mainly by a to lower rate.

also other commands like cl_updatarate and cl_cmdrate atribute to this problem...

Not 100% sure but for good connections try cl_updaterate 101, cl_cmdrate 101, rate 25000 or variations..

As for the relaible channel thingy (back on topic =) my game name is Lag Monster (due to 56kness).. very short name.. cant see why that would kick me... The space?

Dissed when being a higher lifeform is the worst though, 50 res or so down the drain.

its related to the choke server problem as well. The devs know about it and are currently testing a server patch that fixes it.

So hopefully we will get it anytime soon now
