Hlguard Bugs?

<div class="IPBDescription">unwarranted bannings</div> Now this isn't complaining against admins or servers and such, I know that the ban came directly from HLguard (It told me). Anyway, it said I was using a suspected aimbot or something.

Normally I would put this sort of thing to a random, one off occurance but there were others in the server that were receiving the same sort of thing during my time of play, none of which were even accused of hacking during.

I'm just wondering (as I have just got back in to NS recently) if this is a known bug with HLGuard or badly setup or whatever? Help would be appreciated.

ps. Does anyone know how I can get in contact with the "[] aeRO 24/7 CoMBaT #3[] -- Max.Lv: 50 -- Added Upgrades" admin? I can't find a site or e-mail or anything about getting the ban lifted :<

I think it's just a bad setup, they made the sensitivity too sensitive. Probably suits CS and that crap, but in NS aiming must and is naturally much faster.

    What is it...

If your accuracy is so-and-so good for too long, you get banned. It's supposed to be a fail-safe against undetected hacks, but I don't think it's designed for NS. People in NS are a lot more careful with their shooting than in other mods, most of the time...

Is it configurable? Maybe the admins turned it way too high up.

If HLGuard is based on reaction and accuracy, I guess that would explain why. I was using motion tracking at the time so I kinda knew where most the aliens were <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Still banned though :<

    EDIT: Thanks for the replies <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

That's funny, I just got the exact same thing on the same server. I hope there is a way to remove my ban, as they are my favorite servers.

theres a bug in hlguard 1.70, that if you blink madly it will ban you for rapid fire hacks. you can stop this from happening by disabling the rapidfire detection. as for the aimbot, some servers turn their settings way down to almost rediculous levels and its easy to get banned from those for just being good.

I talked with one of the admin's and made him aware of the problem, hopefully he will look into it for everyone else as well.

I guess that means that if your aim sucks, and all of the sudden becomes good, it will get you banned?

I guess motion can cause your aim to become better, by enabling you too time your hit against aliens running around a corner.

I've played way more than I should on the aeRO servers, and I always do fairly well... yet I've never had anything like this happen to me. However, two different people who I know and trust have been banned there automatically for unknown reasons... so I think this is definitely an issue with this server, and not HLGuard itself.

    Also, switching weapons..
With the lmg you spray alot, so you actully miss a lot too, even more in you are suprised or something then start shooting nothing.
Weapons like SG will give you a higher hit rate, if it dosn't count pellets..

Anyways i could be completely wrong, bare over with me... mm kay <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I don't know how the aimbot detection work in hlguard but the only useful detection would be: on a special event (timer or better on every hit on the any target) store the current player location, weapon axle and the target location. That way you can check if there's a aimbot the aimbot will aim always at the same point (in the model). If that happens n times the player will get markled as aimbotter.

You can try joining one of their other servers and see if someone with a Fg tag is on there, usually they are nice enough to help.

Whatever kind of server admin that would put HLGaurd on his/her server without reading up on if its 100% bug free with NS is a .... There are lots of known issues with HLG and NS and should not be used. Even the developers say the same thing, along with 70% of the UA population.

I would strongly suggest you contact the admins direct them to the UA website and forums and tell them to do thier homework. IMO

The latest HLGuard has a NS config so they do know NS at HLGuard, yet its true that for NS you probably do need to check ALOT of settings

Aye I tried but once you're banned from one of their servers, you're banned from them all :<
