I LOVE MOMENTO! i especially love the scene where he is being chased and hes like "Wait am i chasing this guy or is he chasing me?" i gotta get that movie on dvd its one of my favs.
Yeah thats a funny bit heh. And Fight Club is THE best film ever, everyone must see it!! like...seriously!
I read the premise behind Memento in the newspaper when it was first released, and thought it sounded like a wonderful idea, but I imagined the actual film wouldn't be so great.
I eventually got round to seeing it on video, and it was amazing. One of the all-time best films I've seen. And, like many other people, I had to immediately watch it a second time...
Has anybody seen Insomnia yet? By the same director, this time a remake of some Scandinavian thing but with big-name stars in it. Sounds good, but it apparently isn't as good as Memento. Plus, I've never quite got the point of remakes. Any opinions?
I enjoyed Insomnia quite a bit. It's a nice psychological crime drama, and it's really great to see the relationships between characters play out over the course of the movie. Definitely worth seeing.
Unfortunately, I haven't seen Memento, but given the fact that I've heard nothing but good about it, it sounds like I really should see it.

Ahhhh! omg! I was just watching this movie for like the 5th time. and i have it figured out! Caution! Spoilers ahead! dont read this if you want to see this movie
Everyone already knows 99% of the film. At the "end", teddy tells the truth. Lenny killed the real killer over a year ago. And he wasn't even a killer, cause he didn't kill lenny's wife. Lenny killed his wife through insilun injections, but just remembers that as samy jenkis. ANYWAY, most of you already know all this, but the big question I see a lot is what is with the "I did it" tattoo on his shoulder in the very last scene? Some say this is just a dream, but it isnt! It's an actual memory. The key thing here is he had to have gotten that tattoo removed. The real proof of this is that Lenny is scratching his left shoulder throughout the entire movie. Watch closely and you'll see he does it quite a bit. Why is he scratching it? Cause he had a tattoo removed from there, the "I did it" tattoo! It really fits in perfectly. Since Lenny wanted to keep playing "detective", he couldn't if he knew that his wife's killer is already dead. Bam!

Hmmm, I just finished watching it, again. lol. and I noticed he's not really scratching his shoulder, but adjusting his camera strap. So I guess I was wrong, sorry, my bad. BUT, in the end, pause it on the scene where he's with his wife. Look closely at his "I've done it" tattoo. Is it really a tattoo? Kinda looks like a sharpie to me.
I just saw the movie again a couple nights ago, very good movie. The part where Sammy's in the hospital after his wife dies, right after the doctor walks in front of the screen, but before the scene change, check and see who sammy really is. I just caught this, and as soon as I saw it, I had to rewind right then.
Oh, and the concept of the movie is just brilliant.
Hmmm, yeah, Teddy does lie through the whole film, because he's just trying to get Lenoard to kill people for him. But in the end he is telling the truth about how Lenoard's wife lived, and he killed John G long ago, etc.
If you can, get the DVD of Memento. It's got some interesting features like the original short story it was based on. I need to buy the movie because I rented it a couple months ago and didn't have time to explore all of the extras fully.
While you guys are analyzing convoluted films, go rent Mulholland Drive and work that one out for me. Lynch is a great director and this is one of his best. A little too similar to Lost Highway, though. Oh yeah, get Lost Highway as well!

Memento - It's good, as those before said. Waking Life - if you can enjoy a movie containing no action, lots of intellectual conversation, and interesting visuals, see this (by the director/writer of "Dazed and Confused") Mulholland Drive - starts a little odd and ends... well... just watch it Pennsylvania, PA - adaptation of Shakespeare's MacBeth situated in the fast food industry boom (Chistopher Walken!)
