Random Team Really So Random?

This is for CO mode. Not sure if it'd be the same for ns mode cause I rarely play it in pubs.
Anyway, something I've noticed in the few days ns 3.0 has been released is that whenever I go for the random team selection, I almost ALWAYS get stuck on the aliens' team (I think random team has put me on the marine team like twice or something)
Usuall I prefer going random team in games to balance the teams but it gets kinda boring always being on the same team all the time.
My only explanation for this is that random team puts the first player on the alien team and balances the team from there (ala dod auto selection)and that the server reaches me over the net first and thus, I get put on the aliens almost all the time.
Could this be possible or is there some other factor into this phenomenon?

It's really annoying because I usually go random all the time too. I've often asked for team doorways to just be taken out of public games (but kept on in tourney mode since clans need to stay in one team etc...), and have them all just lead to random. There is an AMX plugin (i think) that does it, but I'd really like it to be official.
Ahhhh.... But I can dream <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
hell some one will probably even write a script to spam it repeatedly until you get assigned

Can still just bind it to a key and tap the key over and over.
I knew about that as well, just it's easier to explain the doorway thing <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> Plus you can actually see the doorway thing.
That said, I almost always go marines when I can (if it looks like everybody is waiting for an alien to join, I'll just cave and go alien instead of being an ****) because I am just simply a horrible alien player and gain little satisfaction from it. That has changed a bit with 3.0, now that it seems it's a bit easier (and more fun now that sensory and movement are viable) to be an alien, and I've actually started to see the trend reverse ever so slightly in that often the skilled players end up marine because it's actually quite challenging now.
On a more serious note, the random team will put you on the team with the fewest players.
It may put you marine 10 times in a row, then alien 5 then marine 2 times again but it will eventually be ~ equal.
But first and foremost, it auto balances the teams, and seeing as most games with an odd number have one extra marine, then ofc it will put you to alien.
*edit, this makes no sense but I have a fever today, and little makes sense to me <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
What he said. Anything is possible, it's random after all.
IF one team has even one more player then the other team, you are sent to the team with the lesser number.
To put it bluntly: Stop playing on servers where everyone tries to go marines. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
