  Or, you might have updated, but the server you're trying to connect to hasn't updated their server pack yet. This is common for about a month after a major update, for non-Valve games.
  
  Solutions: Check your version of Natural Selection. If it's version 3 Beta 5, or 3 Beta 6, then you need to update to version 3.0 Final.
  If you already have 3.0 Final, then the server operators haven't yet installed their server side update, or they haven't realised that there is an update yet. If that's the case, then play on another server for a while, then try again later.

  I downloaded the latest version that you can find on the Files section and I still get the same problem. I deleted NS and reinstalled with the file I downloaded today and when I open the Games section of Steam it still says Beta5.

  I think I may have just accidentally solved your problem (as it happened to me as well). Make sure that you install 3.0 to your Steam\SteamApps\username123\half-life folder, or if you don't want to re-install, just copy the files from Steam\SteamApps\username123\ns to the above location. If this isn't the problem you have, best of luck fixing it. Otherwise just check that the Steam\SteamApps\username123\half-life\ns folder is the 3.0 folder, not the b5 one.

  <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns/view?action=files' target='_blank'>Here</a> is where you get 3.0 final from. If that's where you downloaded it from, then decoy9 is right, it got installed to the wrong place.
