use steam, the game messes up quite a bit if you use a WON install of HL.
but here is what you need:
1) make sure yall are using the last version of WON HL (can't remember).
2) point your NS installer at half-life.
3) open HL and then start NS.
Just make shure, that you logged into steam the last time succesfully and that you store your account information.
Then cut the I-net connection and start steam. Select start in offline mode and there you go.
All else, You might find an old version of Natural Selection on some really old mirrors, or a library FTP service, but v3.0 needs Steam, as it needs some files that have been updated since WON v.1.1.0.0. Try finding an older version, or just use Steam.
FireStorm8, If everyone going to this LAN has an internet connection at home, get them all to make sure they have logged in to Steam, and then set their Steam clients to work in Offline Mode. This will enable you to run NS v3.0f over Steam, without needing a local internet connection on the day. This may seem like a bit of work, but a good LAN needs to be prepared well, not just the organiser, but all the participants need to have prepared first. During their preparations, make sure they've scanned their systems for viruses etc before you hook them up to the network.
I'm asking cus i'm a university student studying IT but we usually spend alot of time playing NS. We dont have admin powers so we cant install steam! Is there any way around this??
To get NS work with Non-Steam you need to patch Non steam.. Then it will work with HL mods like NS.
