Hi,
a friend of mine has got CS-Condition Zero. Is it possible to play NS with that?
He says there's gcf packed file with Half-Life, but no HL folder. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

You need a fully working copy of Half-Life 1 in order to play NS. Not Half-Life:Source, not Half-Life 2, not CS:CZ *spit*, but Half-Life 1.
As a response to the friend's comments, yes, Counter Strike:Condition Zero does have a packed GCF file stored within it. However, it will be the Half-Life engine that powers CZ that is stored within. Not the files that NS needs to run, but just the HL1 engine.
If the point needs any further clarification, <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=89619' target='_blank'>read this post.</a>
That post contains Faskalia's guide to installing NS, but has exact details on which versions of Half-Life are compatible to play NS with.
And I admit... I forgot how awesome Teh Magic Search Button is ;]
People who just heard about CS maybe but never played it before, then saw CZ on the shelves. I got it for free with HL2: Silver...the Deleted Scenes are interesting diversions but nothing I'd ever spend money on.
Well I had countless of hours of fun with the bots while I was making big downloads, something to pass the time. And the deleted scenes are a right laugh, so twas worth getting.
Deleted scenes was likewise a decent game in the HL1/Opposing Forces mold, and very well done at that. But, again, it came out years after those sorts of games were in their heydey, long after better games had come out.
