Gaming Headphones
<div class="IPBDescription">Need advice</div> I'm in dire need of a new set of Headphones.. my old ones are falling apart (Literally) - they are being held together with string and duct tape.
Any suggestions? I'm looking for the best quality I can... for around $80 or less... something thats *DURABLE* and gives me comfort and a decent quality of sound.. lots of bass is good, too.
Thanks for your time,

No, the kind of headphones I'm looking for are the kind you'd see in PCGamer or something; with the big black squishy ear pieces that cover the whole ear... something like that. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
For your 80 Limit, go with the
<a href='http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product_Code=SEN+HD497&JRSource=google.datafeed' target='_blank'>SENNHEISER HD-497 Stereo Headphones</a>, Pretty good ones for $42.88
Edit, price was wrong. +Image:

and I liked them for about 3 months until the microphone up and died on me all of the sudden.
What I've been told to get are these, <a href='http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=26-106-346&depa=0' target='_blank'>http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-106-346&depa=0</a>
I know someone who has another sennheiser set and they sound awesome, and have heard many other good things for them.
I've been going through logitec headphones like a crack addict goes through spoons. I'm definitely not going to buy another set they'll just break on me in another few months.
<b>[EDIT]</b>
Just an FYI for the Sennheiser 150's use froogle I think I've seen them for as low as $35 and if it's only ten bucks more why not spend a little bit more for the quality.
<b>[EDIT]</b>
They arent 'gamer' headphones, theyre really designed for personal stereo listening, when you want amazing sound without shaking the neighborhood with 1000 watt speakers.
Plantronics i have heard make some of the best gamer headphones with microphone attached, but thats really a whole different product from the high-quality music headphones.
i love my <a href='http://gradolabs.com/product_pages/sr80.htm' target='_blank'>Grado SR-80</a>'s

the converter takes up a usb port for power and has both RCA and a bigass 6 channel plug too, there is also an USB only version too for a bit extra...

Anyway, ya, just wanted to know how a 5.1 surround sound system can be fit into a thing of headphones...
5.1 = 5 sat speakers +1 Sub...
Headphones = 2 lil speakers...
Edit, read in depth the specs of headphones... They look really good...

i own a pair of seinheissers (HD 570) and i can personally vouch for this company- they really make them phones for audiophiles. I use the the 570's for games too as well and they sound better if not equal to the JBL creature speakers i use.
-only do 50hz+ while others go as low as 20hz
-you feel like a 747 pilot wearing them (don't really mind this as i hear they are comfortable)
-below average quality sound (this is to be expected when you get 6 speakers instead of just 2)
my only 5.1 alternative (because i live in the middle of nowhere) is
<a href='http://www.gainward.com/html/product/multimedia/51Hwadset/51Hwadset.htm#1' target='_blank'>http://www.gainward.com/html/product/multi...51Hwadset.htm#1</a> which i dunno, havent heard much about.
<a href='http://www.alteclansing.com/product_details.asp?pID=AHS302' target='_blank'>altec lansing ahs302</a>
speakers are starting to get rusty already...
actually i would get those foldable <a href='http://www.alteclansing.com/product_details.asp?pID=YO302WHT' target='_blank'>oyoyo headphones</a> except they don't have mics on them
After that affair, I ended up going through Logitech, Sennheiser (which I borrowed, and gave back after 3 days. Too uncomfortable, and no mic), and a few other coice brands. Then went to the lesser brands, like Trust, and Vivanco. Hated all of them, apart from the just-too-small Vivanco range. Eventually settled on SpeedLink (who now make headphones used during the WCG events), I own the Triton, and Medusa sets. Use the Tritons during UT2004, and the plethora of RTS games I play, or I just use my Altec 2100 speakers. For things like AvP and NS, I use the 5.1 Medusa set, which recently got the best score in PCGamer UK's headset tests.
Don't know how they perform during HL2, I finished it before I bought the Medusa's
The Triton set will cost around £20 at the most, and the Medusa's were £35.99.

Crystalclear sound, great bass, comfortable, and excellent design. It has small holes on the back too, in the earcups, so you can hear if anyone wants to talk to your IRL.
Where's the microphone you might ask. It is separated from the headset itself, on a separate cable, which you can deattach and reattach to the main cable. This is for those people who want to use the microphone elsewhere (you get a small microphone-holder that you can attach to your monitor or somewhere else). The microphone use a gripclaw, so you can attach it to your shirt when using it. Also, it has an on/off-button.
Since you have to plug the headset into the volumecontrol, you can quickly detach the headset from your computer and bring it with you, which is superb for LAN-parties and such, in case you are afraid someone might steal them (cause these are very expensive and very popular).
I paid 550 SEK for this headset (about 80 USD) and it was worth it...
Holy crap! Who would pay nearly 12K for <i>HEADPHONES?!</i> Those things better come with a free widescreen plasma HDTV or something... >.>
Hell, I refuse to pay 50 notes for *ANY* headphones
I get told that all too often, mine seem to have lasted a while and I use them constantly. I also throw them around alot so they take quite a fair amount of damage.
It was almost 2 years ago i bought the headset and its still working good.
Very good bas sound and high quality on the microphone.
Too late. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I have these headphones, but the wires have a really bad connection and most times I can only hear out of one ear. Does anyone know if I can repair this somehow or where I can get a new set of wires?
any idea what brand of headphones those are? 7 bucks? and they look decent...
