<div class="IPBDescription">...Emotional/Personal Help/Life sucks...</div> ...Threads

Why? Because in all honesty the OP is only hurting him/herself by opening up. Granted, its probably alot easier to ask for ideas/help regarding personal problems with the anononimity of the internet, it also opens you up to personal attacks. Why? Because I could say with ZERO guilt that whoever has problems is a loser and I laugh at their problem.

Really, the only person it hurts by doing this is the original poster. I saw lately this exact phonomenon.

If you really seriously think you need psychological/physical help, contact a professional, because geeks over the internet are the LAST group of people you should ask for help.

This isn't an attack against anyone, I just think its best to keep personal matters just that, personal.

    I agree.
Especially because even if you are trying to help, you can never be shure about the impact/effect that your words might have on the thread-starter, exept you are a professional, which are shurely <0.01% of the forum members.

People generally confide in thier friends before they take issues to a professional... It may be sad, but if a person sees other people on the internet as his friends and then his outreaching gets shotdown > locked that is going to be worse then the few emo/depression jokes that will be quiped. I mean all our members know that there are going to be that kind of comment if they make a post of that nature, I think most of us can deal with that kind of thing better then we would deal with outright rejection.

It's a catch 22 situation. You never know ... one of these may even be suicidal. Many of them are reaching out. Unfortunately far to many people rely on the internet for their friendship ring - sad, but true.

Either that, or create a sub forum specifically for this.

I think a subforum for this is a good idea. Even if people here can't help it is definately therapeutic to write out your problems. Writing is a way of letting out emotions of straightening out your thoughts which can give you a different perspective on yourself.

I think if there was a subforum it would mean less people would troll as it's another click away instead of being in the base Offtopic forums. It would be worth a shot anyway, I think. It might need to be heavily moderated like Discussions but it could be quite helpful for some people.

It's obvious which threads contain emo stuff like that, so I just skip them over.
