So when did NS get so filled with cheaters? I havent played NS regularly for a while & now I come back & find at least one cheater in every server. WTH happened? Why is cheating so bad in NS? It's like playing CS. You cant trust anyone on any server NOT to cheat. You always have this doubt...whereas before I hardly ever saw a cheater in NS & even less often heard some cry "h@x0r" in game. What happened to the time when the main thing NS players worried about, complained about was newbs screwing thier team over in some way. Now... now... well now NS is infested with...with... cheating aholes. So much so that NS a lot of the time is not even enjoyable.

The cheating in NS is rampant. Why? If I wanted to play with so many cheaters I would go play CS. Another thing is now players get automatically accused of cheating because so many other players are cheating. If you get a good kill it isnt "nice shooting" or "omg! you bit my head off! lol", instead it's "h@x!" or "bullsh*t!" It's even so bad that I have been accused of cheating & I suck... terribly.

It is getting hard to find any reason to come back to stay. Why play if you cant find one clean, fair, decent game?

Now I know some of you are going to diss on me( & my post) & say that it just me sucking...well... I suck & I know I suck but that doesnt prevent me from appreciating skill or that doesnt stop me from being able to see a blatant wallhack or whatever. I accept the fact most NS players are better than me... it isnt as if I dont know I suck & think Im the greatest NS player to ever play the game. No, I suck & I know I suck. I accept that.

Well, considering the size of the NS community, as it's not as large as CS, cheaters will come slower than a game like CS. Also, we don't have as many anticheat programs as them or other mods, so cheating could become rampant.

Besides that, your welcome to play in our server. We have fun, a little too much sometimes, but theres never a cheater.

Alot of people also do not understand NS. Forinstance, the other day one of my regulars was accused of using a wall hack, esp, and an aimbot. Now, the demo the guy sent me that "proved" he was cheating showed me this. One - skulks can use aimbots for bite apparently. Two - attacking when you see the marine reloadin (thanks to the new 3rd person reload animation) is esp, not a vailid strat. and 3 SoF is a wall hack and an exploit, not a legitimat part of the game apparently.

So in short, many people do not understand how NS is played, they just hear that a new game/version is released and play it. THe do not know what features there are, and so since they are used to games like CS, the just assume people are cheating instead of tring to learn the game.

Well, that's leap, not bite. I think he meant using a 'bot when you're right next to a marine, and he's hopping around. I don't know how well this would work. Also, using aimbot for leap sounds like a terrible idea. You almost never want to leap straight at a marine; you want to leap above his head and bite his head while you're going over him, or leap around him, turn around, then leap-bite back at him. A leap straight at a decent marines will just end with you dying, and if there are two marines your chances are even lower.

status quo is to deny any cheating happens in NS except in SUPAR RARE CIRKUMSTANSES!

Someday, VAC will be added to NS and a surprisingly high number of people won't be able to play on any VAC servers.

EDIT: That said, not every good player is hacking by any means. There ARE people who play at extremely high levels.

From what I understand aimbots nowadays can be programmed to not just aim for the head. You can select what part of the body you wish it to target.

From what I have experienced there arent many cheaters, its the few that ruin ns and make everyone paranoid about someone hacking just because they died in an unexplainable way. Everyone pulls a bs shot, some of us more then others, and yet if you have a high K:D ratio, you usually get the hackusations coming at you.

well i always think its more of a joke when someone says "H@x!" or "xiiter:P" or sometimes its a compliment.In a computer game you dont say "ou yes Scrap, i find your ns skills to be very good"...if someone says that, i would take it as a sarcastic remark.So yes....i hope i sayd something not so stupid.

There are very few cheaters in ns or cs or any other game. I've seen real cheaters, a guy going round with an ak47 just shooting once and always getting a headshot. Thing is even then me and my mates said we would still win, and you know what after about 10 rounds of trying we actually beat someone who could see us before we were coming, and kill us within a split second.

Never got a such a rush from owning someone.

Not if the hitbox is just a box, with no parts (no location-specific damage).

Also, to do what I described, you specifically <i>don't</i> aim for the marine; you aim above or to the side on the first leap, and get him with the second.

That one line says it all - You know yourself you DO NOT cheat, and are being accused, yet you will accuse others of it. In all honesty, I have seen roughly 20 people who had "obvious" cheats since I began playing quake online (I never saw any in doom or doom 2 - was there any?). As for that 20, possibly 15 have been in the last 2 years on NS, thats 15 players out of thousands, the less obvious ones could be anywhere I agree, but unless you have solid proof about these players, then you are no better than the ones who say you cheat.

**Edit** To Diablo fx, thats the ones I saw most often, thats how they are so obvious, others were the clasic walk into a room filed with aliens and kill them all within seconds of entering with the HMG =]

I don't think it's so much cheaters as it is headphones (or surround sound), upgrades, and people who play a little too much (not that there's anything wrong with that). I've seen people accused of in NS (and I've been accused of this in DoD) for wallhacking simply because they have headphones or surround sound and can time to the very second someone turns a corner.

Same. In co_pulse, just outside the marine start, there's a vent. I happened to be wearing my awesome headphones, and could tell the skulk was definitely in the vent, so I jumped out and shot it full of pistol... shots. Seconds later,

Also, I spam the radio command, "Xenoform spotted", "We've got hostiles" (Isamil knows) , etc sometimes, so right after of course he said

Although that doesn't mean I haven't seen any hackers in NS. I can recall a number of games where it was plainly obvious, such as speedhacking. Aimbot is a bit more difficult to spot, but can still be done, but wallhack... sound is incredibly important in NS, so I don't know.
I haven't noticed an increase in hackers, but I see one occasionally once a few months or so. It's not something I'd worry about right now D:

What I find sad is when someone hides the same place everytime, kills me 3 times, then I shoot them with a shotgun and they accuse me of hacking. Experience > Hacking.

Anyways, I see tons of speedhackers. In fact it's built right into the server. <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' />

I've seen one hacker in my HL life and it was a guy using an aimbot with a lerk. This was back when the flight model was new and no one knew how to aim at the lerk. Needless to say he killed 5 marines in the hive room in about 10 seconds. Impressive to say the least. Now if only he wasn't hacking.

Getting 5 kills in 10 seconds with the lerk isn't hard to do. the hardest part would not getting killed your self in those 10 seconds

It is not just one player. It is something I have been seeing a lot. Granted I dont play on every server out there, in fact in all reality I only probably play on a total of 20 different servers, but yet I have seen cheaters in every single one. And it isnt only me... I visit clan forums & server forums & I read about bannings that they have to do because of cheaters on thier servers. I listen to server admins & server regulars while in game... I listen to them talk about ppl cheating, I listen to them talk about certain suscpicous players, I watch them kick/ban ppl, I've seen regulars of servers leave because a known cheater joins... the point Im getting at is that it isnt just a single incident or just me.

I guess what Ahnteis said earlier really does stand true. I should have never even posted. Why did I? <slaps forehead>

While I cannot claim to know whether the "cheaters" you encountered were actually so, experience tells me that this is improbable. As someone who is accused of hacking on perhaps an hourly basis and who has seen others accused for much less, I do not speak from the status quo when I uphold that the vast majority of suspected cheaters are almost undoubtedly innocent.

Ask that server admin friend of yours if he has banned teppla.txt, if he has chances are most of the people he has banned are just skilled players. <a href='http://teppla.com/txt/' target='_blank'>Here is proof.</a> (be sure to check the images page too)
