anything i type will show up here? WOW!
The Reason for my rage is gorges and their treatment by other kharaa players. Now in the beginning of a match, say 6vs6, most kharaa players will have one player play gorge while the others use skulk to attack , harrass and generally make the marines lives miserable. The problem is the one gorge spends all their time building resource towers across the map and not defensive chambers or offensive chambers. Now personally, i would consider this a good thing IF the offense is keeping the marines penned up in their spawn, but people still yell at me when i support this strategy. My thinking is that resources are so scarce, why waste them on two gorges if the marines are bascially fighting for their survival from the beginning. I've seen matches where people yell at me for not building offensive chambers or defensive chambers, then change to gorge to build them themselves with the resources coming in from the resource towers i killed myself to make.
Now speaking personally, i would change to gorge if not the primary builder just to help out when i can and to help out a guy named marvin last night i did just that. When i had enough resources and a minute to spare i would plop down a resource collector then change to skulk and continue on my merry way. Of course to get enough resources to get a good amount coming in every cycle takes a lot of them and people still yelled at him even though he was doing pretty damn good resourcer wise.
I know this a rambling post and probably confused most of you but i can simplify it for you: Gorges, 1 or more?

Absolutely. As far as I'm concerned, the Gorges are the most important part of a Kharaa team. They do most of the work but get the least of the credit.

This is, in my opinion, a valid reason for the team to pick on the gorge. The few times I've played gorge, I'll drop at least one offensive and defensive chamber at the entrance to the starting hive before going on a trek to secure more nodes. It keeps the hive from being completely defenseless if a marine wanders into the hive.
Every resource node is the same way - at least one offensive and one defensive chamber. Later in the game, you can go back and reinforce the node's defenses.

You killed yourself to make them, but with that "resource chambers only" strategy, you must depend on the skulks to defend them when necessary. Skulks usually want to be on the front lines in early-game, tearing apart marines who try to expand, not running back across the map to get that one marine with a knife who is cutting down an undefended resource chamber.
Spend the 28res to make an offense and defense chamber. The skulks are (hopefully) harassing the marines as they try to expand, so the chambers might not even be used in early-game. The chambers are the precaution against the one marine who got away and wants to find another node. If it's defended, they'll either have to work for it or move on to the next one.
Again, sorry about the bad words! i hope i didn't contaminate any impressionable minds
The first obvious fatal mistake is the 5 gorges. A six-person alien team should have 2 gorges at most throughout the majority of the game.
woot! ... but I want my blood and guts .... yes I WANT THEM I WANT THEM NOW !!!! ... gimme gibs PLZ!!!1

If the skulks are doing their jobs of slowing the marines in getting to resources, you shouldn't need to be in any hurry to run around the map. Skulks should be tracking down marines and attacking them when they're trying to set up their resource nodes or turret factories.
I've played gorge a few times, and here's what seems to work really well for me:

- game starts, evolve to gorge
- find the resource node just outside your base (there's usually at least one nearby)
- get your 22res and build it (and help it build by pushing 'use', of course)
- go back to your main, set up an offense and defense chamber
- find another nearby resource node and build on it (again, 'use' it)
- go back to the other resource node and set up defenses
- find another node, build it
- go back to previous, make defenses
- etc, etc, etc

I've found that the travel time between the one area and the next is usually almost long enough to get the necessary resources to build at least one chamber. In early-game, there's still going to be some waiting time, but the walk makes it seem like you're still doing something rather than sitting around.
Once you've got a few nodes, you should be getting enough resources to build the resource chamber, the offense chamber(s) and defense chamber(s) all in one shot. If you can afford it, go for it.
When you find yourself having 50 or 60 resources, look for that second hive. I don't have any real numbers to support it, but I guess it should only take about 10-12 minutes to reach that point. By then, the marines will most likely have bigger guns, so they'll be looking for a hive to secure.
Setting up a hive is a big job in itself. My personal preference is to set up at least 4OC and 3DC at each entrance before even thinking of getting the hive going. Nothing is more annoying than putting 80res into a hive only to have one marine come by and rip it apart before it's even finished. Those defenses will be able to hold back marines for at least a minute or two while you scream for help.
Anyways, I hope this post helps.
